[With the recent temperature fiasco, Pilouette hadn't been paying attention and September kind of snuck up on her. Now with a particular day coming up, she's found that she's ended up with a somewhat...odd problem. Having found herself unable to figure out an answer on her own, she decides to turn to the network. ]

You all know how people can come here from different worlds and different times and stuff, right? Well, um...hypothetically. Say someone just had their birthday. Like, maybe a month before coming here. But only a few months after getting here, it's already their birthday again!

Do I...uh, they just keep being the same age and wait a whole year or should they say they're older now? Oh! But the year is different, too, isn't it? I wonder if that matters...I've been thinking about it all day, but it just seems like, so totally complicated...!

I guess that's a good point. I'm not even sure what I would do, though. Besides, what am I gonna do on my own?

Yeah, some birthdays are kind of important I guess, but most of them aren't. There are probably a ton of people with the same birthday, you know?

[Besides, she's a totally mature almost-adult. Cool almost-adults don't get excited for birthdays, right?]

Yeah. I think I will make a cake. Not like I don't already bake all the time or anything but still.

[There's a short pause before she adds:] And I'm not going to eat the whole thing myself or anything. ~~[Not that she won't try, but no one needs to know that.]~~

[She hadn't really thought much about that. She's so used to her own world's way of measuring time that the idea of another world measuring it different, while not implausible, is a little mindboggling.]

But if someone else's world has different years and months or whatever, it must be weird for them to be here and suddenly have whole new ways of tracking that stuff.

Yeah, I bake. It's kind my favorite thing to do. And I guess I could use some help with that cake. You interested?

[Strictly for baking, of course. It's not like she hangs out in her apartment eating candy all day. ...Not all day.]

Maybe we can melt it and mix it into the batter or something...

[Pilouette is just donning her apron, having set all the ingredients out on her kitchen counter, when she hears a knock at the door. She scuttles over and opens it.]

Hi, you...uh, you must be Davesprite!

[He's a lot more...orange than she imagined. No, no, this is pretty normal considering, right? Yeah. Yes, of course. She offers her hand for a handshake.]

That's me, yeah. In the flesh and all.

[He reaches out to shake her hand, holding on for a couple of moments before he drops it, wings shifting a little.]

Okay, so… there anything you need me to do right now?

Well, come on in.

[She had measured out everything before hand and takes a second to think as she begins to head to the kitchen.]

Maybe you can sift the flour and stuff together...Have you done it before?

Can't be that hard, right?

[read: no. But he can try!]

Yeah! It's like, totally not hard at all.

[Once they're in the kitchen, she gestures to a few small bowls of dry ingredients next to a sifter that's been set inside of a mixing bowl.]

It's just like, mixing stuff and getting all the lumps out and junk. Just pour all that stuff into the sifter and kinda like, move it from side to side really gently. [She can't help but grin just a little.] It's like, been a while since I've been able to cook with another person...!

Okay. Sounds simple enough.

[he tucks his wings back against himself again, just to be sure that they're as out of the way as he can manage before moving over to investigate the sifter. He glances at her, head tilted a little.]

You used to cook with someone else back home? Family, or…?
