[With the recent temperature fiasco, Pilouette hadn't been paying attention and September kind of snuck up on her. Now with a particular day coming up, she's found that she's ended up with a somewhat...odd problem. Having found herself unable to figure out an answer on her own, she decides to turn to the network. ]

You all know how people can come here from different worlds and different times and stuff, right? Well, um...hypothetically. Say someone just had their birthday. Like, maybe a month before coming here. But only a few months after getting here, it's already their birthday again!

Do I...uh, they just keep being the same age and wait a whole year or should they say they're older now? Oh! But the year is different, too, isn't it? I wonder if that matters...I've been thinking about it all day, but it just seems like, so totally complicated...!

[As he tips the bowl, Pilouette uses the spatula to carefully scrape the edges of the bowl until she's gotten out as much batter as she can. She stands up straight and looks at the cake pan with a smile.]

There we go!

[She turns to the stove and, finding the caramels sufficiently melted, carefully picks up the bowl with a dishtowel.] Okay! So, all we need to do is swirl the caramel in to the batter I guess... [She holds a small spoon towards him.] Wanna give it a try? I can pour it and you can mix it around.

Sure. Get it winding its way through to bunch up in places for bonus pockets of taste.

[he puts the mixing bowl away to the side first, and then takes the spoon.]

Ready when you are.

Okay! Here we go!

[Carefully, she tilts the bowl of caramel toward the cake pan, the melted candies slowly oozing out.]

[he tightens his grip on the spoon a little, adjusting it for maximum stirring capacity, and when he figures enough has plopped into the pan, he starts stirring, keeping the spoon mostly out of the way of the caramel fall.]

[As he works, Pilouette watches as the caramel mixes with the cake batter. She looks fro the pan to grin at him.]

This is looking pretty good, huh? Heehee, I can't wait until it's all baked and everything...!

[he's not going to go that far, but that's definitely at least the beginnings of a smile she's getting in return.]

Hell yeah. Gonna feel like velvet on the tongue when we're done.

[and my apologies for taking so long! should we wrap this one up soon?]

[She laughs just a little. She's not sure she's ever heard a "hell yeah" in regards to cake before. Even though they've just met, baking with someone, doing something so normal like this makes her feel a little less anxious about being so far away from home.]

I know I already said it, but thanks for this. This has been like, really nice. ...You're like, pretty cool, you know?

((No worries! I think we should; did you want to handwave the rest?))

[clearly she has been hanging out in the wrong circles. He's heard that a lot, enough to be pretty sure it's a cliche, but- well, there does kind of seem to be something to it right now.

He starts a little, turning towards her, wings opening slightly, then settles again, pulling the reaction in with an attempt at a casual shrug.] It's been said, yeah.

[that is definitely the beginning of a soft smile for a moment there, and then he's focused on the mix again.] Okay, so that looks about done. Next step is putting it in, yeah?

[[works for me! cake works out okay, maybe there is some sharing and such?]]
