Well. It looks as though my employer has gone missing. I suppose that means I'm out of a job.

...A lot of people seem to have disappeared, hm?

[Naoto's laughing too. Junpei's on the floor laughing.]

Honestly? And infinite number. The Many-World Theory of Quantum Mechanics states that any and every decision someone makes from their day to day lives creates alternate worlds with different variations.

...Of course, I don't exactly have a great handle on Quantum Theory, so that's about the limit of my knowledge in that regard.

[She's smart, but she's an investigator, not a physicist.]

[Yeah well, She watches Inspector Space-Time so maybe they should totally geek out about BBC Sci-fi shenanigans together.]

Hmm... well, part of the reason people get sent back from what I can assertain is that we still can get sick while here; sick enough that even touch can't cure it. Perhaps sometimes they realise the person is incompatible from one universe, but not from another due to minor changes in that world? And other times, the person is drawn back from the original universe after some time has passed because they're more stable now.

Of course, this is all speculation...

Well, with Steve Rogers at least, we have proof they were sent home originally...

No, it's alright, England-san. [She offered him a small smile] It's good to discuss theories and other situations out loud instead of just keeping them to myself.

[Whoops, that was a slip of the tongue...]

Ah, 'proof' was the wrong word to use, forgive me; evidence is more appropriate. But, from what Rogers-san told me, he was sent back to exactly where he was supposed to be; before an experiment that physically changed his body to that of a super human. So from at least one returnee, we have evidence that they do attempt to return guests to their original time and place.

[Wait, that gave her an idea, a small smile crossing her lips.]

Actually, this does give me some ideas; perhaps it is well warranted to contact those who have knowledge of their being brought back and forth and interview them about what they remember.

Hmm, are you implying they'd be lying, or that perhaps their memories were altered...?
detective_shirogane: (Heh.)

No, that's a fair concern to have. It pays to be cautious, after all.

[A pause.]

What else happened here, before my arrival? I only know of those spirits of sorts that were here in October...
detective_shirogane: (I wonder)

[Naoto can be too, but someone needs to be an optimist...]

Power outage... do you mean the one back in November?
detective_shirogane: (How troublesome.)

Were you affected at all by those... 'spirits', around October?

I only read about it briefly, so I don't know exactly what it did... if you wouldn't mind enlightening me, I'd appreciate it.

[A pause]... I understand if that's uncomfortable, of course. [He looked so sad...]
detective_shirogane: (Excuse me?)

[Well as safe as you can get at Hogwarts let's be real]

Wait... so it wasn't just your own bad memories you were aware of? You were privy to someone else's?

[This just got a LOT more interesting...]

...This is very, very interesting. I'll need to investigate this further. Of course, now it's a matter of tracking down others who've been here as long as you have.

We know very little about this world; other than there's something preventing the people from leaving the city, they're slowly losing power, and we're the only ones who can help.

[But she carefully started to count off her fingers]

Yet, we know there's something here capable of giving others oppressive, dreadful feelings and memories, capable of creating living, monstrous snow men and somehow implant stones within them that control them, as well as hijack a video message sent to all of us. Not to mention there does seem to be some tension between the Religious Sect and the Scientists, as well as a complete lack of information on the past beyond 100 years ago.

[She paused here, considering what she was saying.]

Some sort of incident where all their historical logs were lost, the city isolated from the outside world, and dark, foreboding visions... perhaps of something that had come to pass? Perhaps what you saw were someone's memories? It's entirely possible...
