So we're stuck hugging people. Some of them total strangers, some of them total jerks, maybe, but there's not a lot of choice in the matter, right?

Well, because I'm both curious and in the mood to punish myself, in honor of the fast-approaching Singles Awareness Day...

[She doesn't usually ask about other's love lives, but seeing as it's almost the big V-day... or maybe this stupid city is rubbing off on her. Either way she kind of hopes so. Would kind of be nice to be in a place that might encourage a confession, right? Unless the feeling isn't mutual. That would suck.]

I would like her life to get out of its current emotional rollercoaster phase first. It's kind of a damper on the romance.

Well, yeah, and I'm trying to do that, but I don't want her to like me because I'm there for her. I want to be there for her, but I don't want that to be, you know, the basis of a relationship. We can have the relationship when she's ready.

I don't mean you're wrong, just that she might be ready sooner than you think? [What is she even doing she doesn't do love advice and this is largely why.] Never mind. Relating your situation to mine, I guess. Didn't really mean to.
