01. Video
[The video feed began, and Naoto would appear on the screen, dressed in her usual hat, fine jacket and neck tie, perhaps even more refined than usual. Sitting at her desk, she'd made sure that the area where the video would work was immaculate. First impressions were important after all.]
Good day, Saeng Seong; my name is Naoto Shirogane. I have met some of you already, but to those who I've yet to meet, I felt it was important to make this video to properly introduce myself.
In my own world, I am a detective working with various police organizations across Japan, helping them solve 'unsolvable crimes'. Obviously, Saeng Seong is relatively peaceful...
[Ignoring the Mutant Snowmen...]
But, I find it still prudent to be prepared. Thus, I'd like to announce that by Wednesday next week, the Shirogane Detective Agency will be opening in District 3. If you ever are in need of assistance, please consider coming to the agency or contacting me.
[She tipped her hat towards the screen, offering them a small smile.]
Please, also feel free to ask any questions you may have here.
[For these two, there would be a continuation of the feed, Naoto's smile still there.]
Fuuka-san, Kirijo-san; I am aware this is sudden, but I would like to extend an invitation to the two of you. I would be honoured if you'd consider working with me at my agency.
[Naoto leaned back somewhat, her eyes keeping that calm look, but there was a level of uncertainty; would they even be interested? Or would they doubt her sincerity?]
You're both talented women and I trust in your abilities to be able to compliment my own weaknesses. I hope to hear back from you, but the invitation will always be opened.

[Filtered for Mitsuru and Fuuka]

That's a great idea. Even if there hasn't been much going on yet, who knows when that'll change...
If you need any help, let me know, okay? Doesn't matter if it's field work, or admin-related. I've always wanted to learn more about stuff like this.
Video
You have an interest in Police work, I assume?
Video
Yes. I had helped out Kurosawa-san sometimes, back home. He's a police officer. I haven't had experience with detective work, but it's similar, right?
Video
[Did she know a police officer by that name? Nothing rang a bell at the moment...]
Yes, there is certainly some cross over between the two. You have to know police protocol in order to work alongside officers, as well as proper handling for evidence and material so they're still able to be used in a court of law, etc. I'm also a trained and registered gun owner, which was no easy feat in Japan.
[A brief pause, and Naoto seemed a little pensive. Determined, a strong sense of justice, physical capable and seems to take life by the horns...]
It's a pity Dojima-san isn't here to talk to you, then.
Video
[He listens to her explanation without interruption, nodding at the end.]
That makes sense. Have to admit, I'm more interested in field work, but I'll need to learn the other aspects of the job too. [Akihiko quirks a brow at her rather surprising statement.] At your age? Heh, that's pretty impressive.
Dojima-san? Is that a colleague of yours?
Re: Video
[She smiled briefly at his comment] It's understandable to want to specialize, but everyone who starts working as an officer usually starts on patrol or other such duties. And... [Part of her wanted to huff at him; that part of her that hated being treated as a child. But it's alright; it was pretty impressive about her age... and she was a good shot too, Kanji and Yu could tell you.] --thank you for the compliment.
[She paused again, her eyebrow raised.]
Ah, so Yu-senpai didn't tell you then. Ryotaro Dojima is Yu-senpai's uncle in Inaba; he was also one of the Detectives working on the murder case I was involved with. He's a man who is very dedicated to his job, as well as his family... and he respects those who are willing to work hard and put their all into things.
[And she gave a small smile.]
I have a feeling you'd work well together.
Video
Yes, I know. I'm willing to do whatever it takes, though. Nothing in life ever comes easily.
[His smile is a little wry, but he doesn't elaborate on her remark. He hasn't exactly been very social in the past couple of months.] He definitely sounds like someone I can respect. So he's like a mentor to you, huh?
Video
[There was an odd realization in her mind; whenever she went back home, she'd forget about these other Persona users. It was a strange and unsettling one; now their groups would never know they were not alone...]
Well, if you are, I can get something organized for you. Allow me some time to work on that, hm?
[At his comment about Dojima being a mentor... well. She had her own wryly smile.]
I... wouldn't go so far as that. He is my elder, and he is very skilled and well suited for his job, but I'd say he's more of a... respected colleague. If anything when I started the working with the Inaba police, he was honest with his distaste in my presence there, which is far better than most. Often times officers would just talk behind my back... he was at least forthright. I can respect that. And as time went on, our interaction took on a more favorable turn.
Video
[That isn’t something he’s thought very much about. He just kind of assumes that everyone would keep their memories when they went back home.
Akihiko nods, maintaining his friendly exterior.] That’s fine. No rush. I just want to help out however I can.
Distaste? [He frowns in mild confusion.] Because of your age? [He doesn’t personally see gender being an issue. Mitsuru is, after all, an extremely competent person, and that has nothing to do with her being a woman.] Or did he think you weren’t experienced enough?
Video
[Though, his questions made her sigh.]
Yes, on both accounts. You see, the case in Inaba had gone on for over a month with no leads. Thus, after doing some initial investigation myself, I offered my services to the prefectural police, and asked for no money in return. I did not need it and I was intrigued as to where this case would go.
[She readjusted her cap as she continued, frowning slightly.]
Obviously, the Inaba police force did not take kindly to my intrusion, already on edge due to not having any answers for the scared public. So imagine an upstart young detective who is younger than his nephew arriving... But again, at least he was forth right with me. I rather have honesty than whispers behind my back, after all.
[Or being treated as a 'brat who acted an adult'. At least Dojima called her on that and didn't just hide it behind words.]
video
"You seem pretty young for a detective," would be a normal person's response -- but the Pokémon world has people not much older as Gym Leaders. Put your mind to it, and you can become it.]
Would you be willing to investigate things that aren't crimes or cases? [A very important prelude to her inquiry. It's not even something she's big on -- just a nagging curiosity that keeps coming up in the back of his mind, with not much to do.]
video
If I believe I can be assistance, certainly; however I would need to evaluate and make decisions on a case by case basis.
[After all, she didn't really want to go following someone around to figure out if they're cheating on someone else... that was beneath her, in her opinion.]
[...then again, if she was bored enough...]Do you have a question of some sort?
video
[She's sure that, you know, it's no big deal or whatever. Plenty of things catch fire and sometimes burn down. In her hometown, a tower burned down around a hundred and fifty or so years ago, so...
But, with not much else to do, it'd was just bugging her.]
video
Rest assured, that is something I am looking into. There should be some network recordings with the Priestess Rhea that should be still accessible to you, if you haven't seen them already. They give some information about the religious culture here...
[Naoto tilted her head, glancing towards her old note book.]
We could discuss it more in detail sometime once I have my Agency established, if you'd like.
video
Thank you -- I'd like that a lot. I'm not sure I'll find out anything you haven't already uncovered, but I'll let you know if anything interesting comes up. I get the feeling I'm going to be spending a lot of my free time around the city anyway.
video
Then again, perhaps she could lend her own talents to help out, whatever they could be when it came to the occupation in question.]
I would be delighted to help you out, Shirogane. Though I must ask what it is that I would be doing exactly.
[Or rather, what did she possess that would help to cover Naoto's possible weaknesses?]
video
You would be assisting me with parts of investigations I am not necessarily an expert on. Namely, anything to do with commercial enterprises and governmental affairs.
[Glancing away, Naoto continued. She never liked admitting her own weaknesses, but here it was necessary.]
I have some experience investigating such issues; embezzlement, corruption, etc. But I am not completely knowledgeable of the nuances involved in business activities.
[Her gaze returned to the camera, and she nodded.]
You are the Heir to the Kirijo Group, so you must have been taught what to keep your eyes out for. Not to mention you are quite talented in leadership and negotiation. These activities will be important to keep an eye out for, as I've noticed a mild... strain, in the city in regards to the different factions involved. Would any of that be an interest to you?
video
It sounds like something I would be able to handle. So I say yes, consider me interested. Even if I haven't been head of the company for too long, what I've learned over the years should be enough.
[If not, well, she'll just have to adjust what she knows and expand on it.
Though there had been something else that caught her attention.]
You mentioned 'different factions'. Would you mind explaining that a bit more?
video
[Wait, something was off here... she'd been suspicious of this before, but now here was some confirmation.]
Where... or when I come from, you've been CEO of the Kirijo Group for the last two years, Kirijo-san. What year is it for you, exactly?
...As for the different factions... I rather discuss that with you in person, if you don't mind.
video
[That was...definitely some time indeed. Hard to really process given her own time frame, but definitely some time.
Ah, but she was asked a question. So quick recovery!]
It was only 2010 back home. Early 2010, to be more precise.
[But two years between them? The idea that some people were brought from different points in their lives was one thing, but the idea that someone from years down the road was a bit baffling.]
Not at all. [She definitely understands. With networks like this, there really was no telling what may or may not be watched/listened in on.] When and where would you like to meet up and discuss this?
video
Yes, that's what I said. And the year you're experiencing explains it; It's 2012 where I am from.
[Naoto offered the woman a brief smile.]
If anything, allow me to reassure you, you're doing a fine job as CEO, to my knowledge.
How does this Friday sound? Hopefully I'll have most of the furniture moved in by then, including your desk.
video
Shirogane-san, I would be honored to work with you and Mitsuru~! You are both so talented, I know I could learn a lot more from the both of you. I will do my best to serve.
[Bowing, she raises her head, her smile still wide as ever. Finally, she could have a real purpose again.]
video
Thank you very much, Fuuka-chan. It'll be an honour to work with someone as talented as you as well. You might be the busiest of the three of us, in all honesty; with the Webula coming up, I'm going to want a website for the Detective Agency... as well as other things, which we can discuss in person.
Video
[He's down for lugging furniture into the new place, of course, but hey. Let him throw out unruly jerks.]
Video
[She's smiling all the while, tilting her head some.]
I'm not sure exactly HOW much work you'd end up getting, of course... people here seem mostly civil.
Video
Y'never know, man. But if y'got guys standin' around givin' mean looks, nobody gets ideas in their head to make the place less 'civil', y'know?
Quiet days can mean I go on coffee runs and deliver mail or whatever.
Video
Well, what salary would you want for your services?
[She was paying Fuuka and Mitsuru, after all...]
Video
...H-hell no! Screw that! I ain't takin' cash for this.
no subject
[And a soft sigh escaped her. Stubborn man...]
How about a free lunch from the same place I bought your birthday dinner, whenever you come to help out, then?
Video
I-I toldja I don't wanna be paid for that kinda stuff!
...Jus' don't treat every time I come help out, y'hear me?
Video
[Was that a smirk on her face? After all, just because she wouldn't buy him lunch directly didn't mean that she could finish those huge lunch portions herself, y'know?]
How is your new edition to your household, by the by?
Video
Oh... Clive? He's a handful, man, and he's barely a week old. Follows me around everywhere and eats like one'a those black holes.
[Like 'mother', one guesses.]
no subject
Well, that's good; it means he's imprinted on you properly and considers you his mother. What does he feed on?
no subject
Nuts sometimes, but... veggies, man. All kinds'a veggies. Broccoli, carrots, celery-
[He pauses, looks around, and lowers his voice.]
-Spinach. His favorite. Can't say the word unless I got some in the kitchen somewhere or he goes crazy lookin' for it.
no subject
[Another small smile.]
And have some nuts around the office, as those don't go bad as easily...
