1st Maple Leaf (backdated to Nov 18 the day of his arrival)

[Canada greets Saeng Seong from inside his apartment, 3-07 in building 2. He wanted to send out a message before settling in. He sits at a table as he sends out the video. A polar bear cub is sitting in the chair next to him and reaches across the table to steal meat from the sandwich Canada was going to eat. Muffled music plays in the background coming from a next door apartment.]

Hi everyone I just arrived here. My name is Matt and this is Kumajirou. [He gestures towards Kuma without looking away from the camera and doesn't notice his lunch is being eaten yet.] I just have a couple of questions.

Are any of you familiar with someone named Alfred? I was told he's here too but I haven't seen him yet. He might be going by his other name, America. [He pauses to look towards the wall, the neighbor's music still seeping in. Better check that later- it could be him considering. As if by magic, the music stops.]

I'm still really confused about where we are exactly. -Or why they took us. I'm having trouble believing that physical contact can generate energy or keep us from getting sick. Usually you avoid touching someone while they're sick so you don't get infected. What have you discovered so far about-

[The sound of a crash is heard in the background and Matthew jumps and turns to look at something off screen. It isn't seen on camera, but the door to his apartment has just been flung open and after the sound of rapid loud foot thumps another figure enters the video feed, tackling Matthew (and his chair) to the floor with a crash. Kumajirou takes advantage of this distraction and starts eating the rest of the sandwich.]

MATT! YOU'RE OKAY! YOU'RE NOT IN A TEST TUBE!

OUCH! ALFRED GET OFF! Of course I'm not in a test tube. What are you talking about?

[Canada pulls himself up, rearranges his chair, and gives the camera an embarrassed smile and America a less than happy sideways glance. America pulls up a seat next to him and leans in to get on camera too.]

Um. I found Alfred. But I'd still like to hear about this world or at least meet my fellow "visitors."

Oh dear. That poor bear, not knowing what he is. Now Shura kinda wants to adopt one like that...

"I'm the Demi-Fiend. You can call me Shura. And no, I don't think we've met before..." Given Shura's shirtless state (though it might be difficult to see with all her tattoo-like skin markings), America would probably remember her if he had come across her.

"Nice to meet you Shura. Do you mind me asking what Demi-Fiend means?" Canada could take an educated guess but it was best to ask. He was still half distracted by Kumajirou, he didn't notice yet that Shura wasn't wearing a shirt.

America was debating the possibility of his Whale Pal being a demon when she introduced herself. "Shura. Yeah nice to meet ya! I'm America!"

To him, Demi-fiend sounded like the name of something occult from a horror movie back home. That caught his attention and he looked at her over the video more carefully. "WHOA WHOA WHOA! ...WHY ARE YOU NAKED?!" he shouted when he noticed she was shirtless, eyes bugging out and cheeks turning a little red, "I mean I'm all for freedom to wear what you want but whoa! What's going on? Aren't you cold? Are you from a nudist colony or something? Need a jacket?" His ramblings quickly turned into coherent noises and he shook Canada just in case the other nation wasn't paying attention. (As if it was possible not to hear his loud reaction.)

"'Demi-Fiend' is a demon that is half Fiend race and half human race." Yes, that does means she is demon and human.

She starts a bit at America's reaction. She is used to people reacting at her shirtless state, but not quite like that.

"Calm the Hell down! I'm not naked,first of all, I'm wearing pants. Second of all, I'm not a nudist and I'm not cold. I'm used to being shirtless is all. With all my markings you can't see my nipples anyway." It's true: being ink black like most of her breasts, they don't stand out at all.

[blackhorse]

"A-Al!" Canada yells at America and starts to turn red. "I'm sorry!" he apologizes on his friend's behalf. "I-I think your markings look nice. Um! I mean they bring out your eyes!" Canada rushes to make it clear he wasn't looking at any nipple-covering markings. That would be very rude.

[hamburgerhero]

"Yeah they're blacked out but- but the shape is still there!" America isn't about to let it go so easily. Canada's objections are ignored though he snickers a little at the other nation's attempt to make up for his behavior with compliments.

"You don't have to look if you're so embarrassed, y'know. I have eyes. They're up here." But then she smiles at Matt. "Thank you." Even if he was just saying that to be polite, well, her eyes are golden and her markings are black. They do bring each other out.

Why did America have to be so sensitive about nudity? Clearly he had been the one raised by England and not France at first. Matthew smiles back feeling a little relieved. He elbows Alfred in the side before he can continue his wail-fest.

"How long have you been in Saeng Seong?" he asks.

"Ow!" Alfred jumps at the elbowing and frowns toward Matt. He stares aside, embarrassed, and sticks his lip out in a pout.

"Matt, you and I arrived here in June and then you disappeared a couple months ago." Finally he looks at Shura again, straight in the eye, determined to ignore the nudity. "What about you?"

"I arrived in June too... although I tend to keep to myself. This place gives me the creeps more often than not."

All this hugging and touching and niceness was very awkward for someone who had seen the true face of humanity under dire circumstances...
