Brainiac 3 here. I have explained to our captors that I could solve their energy problem for them, but they insist they have no idea who I am. I suppose I will have to handle this independently, at least for now.

Those of you who have decided to abstain from touch, please allow me to scan you. My medical scans are entirely non-invasive and take only a moment. For best results, I would need a baseline scan before you begin to feel unwell and at least one after you begin to feel the effects.

I am also willing to provide tech or run experiments for those who can supply the components necessary because I am frankly bored.

[Lyrl is waiting for him, not exactly hard to miss with his green skin and ornate attire. He's preoccupied with is handheld computer as usual, picking through the and occasionally jotting down thoughts--but not often, because he prefers them in the privacy of his head.

He acknowledges Kid with a tilt of his head.]

Might I ask what species you are, then?

Not particularly. Just a personification of the end of life. [And the Madness of Order. Y'know. No big deal.]

[Yeah, you're going to see things like a completely unknown blood type, strange and very strong energy readings, and all sorts of other goodies. Isn't that exciting?]

A personification? I can't say I've met one of those before. [If he were Marvel, he'd be wondering if you were the one Thanos was in love with ... ]

In appearance, no. But I could say similar for yourself. Your readings are quite interesting. [He could see why they'd kidnap this one.]

My appearance was intentional. I was created to resemble humans. I don't imagine the reverse is true.

[He cranes his neck a bit, trying to see the readout.]

No, the matter of why so many sentients are humanoid in appearance is a matter of some debate. Might I ask who created you?

[Lyrl turns the screen to Kid once he's done with it. It's not exactly easy to read, full of alien science as it is.]

[And, yes, that's gibberish to Kid. A rarity since, as a god of death, he knows all languages living or dead. (Everything dies after all.)]

Are you a clone or genetic construct? [Can he have one of his very own if you turn out to be useful?]

Neither. I was created from a fragment of my father's soul rather than his DNA.

[That makes him wonder. Does he have actual DNA that could be used for cloning purposes? His father's own form is rather...fluid. Perhaps their kind has something else.]

I can't claim to have any experience with souls.

Very few have direct experience with them even in my world. Still, there's an entire branch of science devoted to their study.

I would be interested in hearing about it if you have anything to say on the subject. New fields of study are always a matter of some fascination for me.

[Which isn't to say he believes in souls as such, but there could be a phenomenon to investigate there. He's dealt with stranger.]

Certainly. [Kid is very pleased by this.] Though we'll likely have to break it up into several sessions. I know souls inside and out on account of being a reaper, but it's sometimes difficult to put them into mortal terms.
