Brainiac 3 here. I have explained to our captors that I could solve their energy problem for them, but they insist they have no idea who I am. I suppose I will have to handle this independently, at least for now.

Those of you who have decided to abstain from touch, please allow me to scan you. My medical scans are entirely non-invasive and take only a moment. For best results, I would need a baseline scan before you begin to feel unwell and at least one after you begin to feel the effects.

I am also willing to provide tech or run experiments for those who can supply the components necessary because I am frankly bored.

Yes, although it hasn't been working on the native population for some reason, its readouts seem otherwise accurate. It'll have to do.

[Lyrl waits for her at the entrance to the apartments, tapping at his handheld computer as usual, idly examining anyone who goes by. He still hasn't been able to figure out why it won't scan the natives, and that's frustrating, but his face is as calm as ever.]

[Asuka arrives in her usual attire - red pants, red jacket, black hat - and waves hello when she sees him. Say what you like about green skin; at least its easy to spot.]

Of course. I'm hardly human myself.

It does not work on the natives here, but I suspect that is due to deliberate interference.

I can do that.

[He can't take his shortest shortcut, not without being spotted, and not with his porting acting all screwy anyway, but he still doesn't see any need to go out through the building. Especially to meet someone who already knows he's not what you'd call normal.

Kurt tosses open his window and clambers out, climbing rapidly down one story and jumping the rest of the way. Far enough that even he feels a bit of a twinge in his toes, but stairs are lame. At least there's not far to look.]

That's certainly a possibility, especially as they are refusing our help in favor of detaining us here. But understanding the workings of this place might help in other ways as well.

Everyone has a weakness. They are doing their best to ameliorate our discontent yet they don't wish our aid. So very strange.

They insist as well that the energy problem is "complicated". But that scanner - ( she presses her lips together. ) I thought you said it scans physical characteristics.

It does. It has no psychic abilities, although it can detect the presence of brain waves.

I'd volunteer since I don't think I've touched anyone yet but then I have a medical condition so I'm not sure how that would affect your data.

That is one of its main functions, yes.

Considering I am taking scans from a number of species, that shouldn't pose a problem. More likely it would be helpful, as I would be able to see how the environment affects people with a variety of conditions.
