[He seems to be adjusting something as the screen comes on, but draws back while addressing the camera.]

Weeeell, looks like it's getting chilly out. Don't really think I'm looking forward to that, never really experienced winter on Earth, really. But I'm more in the mood to stave that off as much as possible, so I've got two priorities here.

Firstly? Warmer clothes. Where do I get some?

The next, something I've also never done before, bonfire party. Anybody up for that?
And especially you kids, Madoka, Dia, the rest. You guys up for it?

[ Stephanie Brown, oh, she remembers Miss Brown. There's a slight nod to indicate that she'll get in touch with her when she can. ]

Even if you're not expecting anyone, it'd still be good to keep an eye out for them. Not to get your hopes up, but I wasn't expecting to have a friend from home here either.

Yeah but if they show up I'll find em quick enough. How do you know that new commers are on their way?

I was told by more than one person that everyone arrives at the same day every week. [ Which explains why there were a number of people who had already been through this among the crowd of scared newcomers. ] So it's kind of a tradition for a number of people to show up to welcome them.

It can be very scary... showing up and being surrounded by a number of others who don't know what all is going on. I was grateful to have so many of those strong-minded people help me, so I'd like to be able to help someone in the same way.

Oh! It's in a couple days from now--on the eighteenth.

Heh. You are a good kid, Madoka. Putting old guys like me to shame.

That's right. It's been that way for a few months or so I've been told.

[ Then he says something like that which only causes her to flail around with a free hands. ]

S-Sorry, that was never my intent! I just wanted to help out where I could... um, is there something I can do to make it up to you?

What? Haha. No, kiddo. I mean you're doing more than your share, and I'm not really doin' much of anything.

[ Sometimes she suspects bringing treats and offering to talk isn't really that great of a thing. The acts are tiny and insignificant, yet she continues to try because there's not much else to do. ]

What else is there that you can do? There's no school... are there jobs?

[ She's fifteen years old and worrying about a job now. ]

Heh, I said it before, and I'll say it again. You're doin' plenty.

And, jobs, huh? I didn't really think about that. I'll ask around later.

[ Sheepishly rubbing the back of her neck. Compliments are hard to take geez. ]

Yeah, it'd be good to help out a little. Hopefully the jobs they have here aren't strange like hand holding--I don't think many people would want to work for something like that.
