[He's looked for Flora for a while now, but he hasn't seen any sign of her. No way to contact her, she's not in her room, in fact it's like she was never here at all.

He hopes that she was sent back. He was never her Luke to begin with - the real one was back home with the Professor. He would always be the copy of Luke that Mayfield made. But it hurt at lot more then he was expecting. He wanted to pretend a little while longer...

And then there was that part of him that didn't trust this place to actually send her home.]

Do we know for sure if you get sent back home once you "leave" this place? My friend went missing, and while I'd like to believe they sent her off back home, I can't really be sure if that's what they really did or if they're keeping her somewhere.

I mean, I hope that's what they did. She'd be happier there. But I just want to be sure...

[He's quiet for a little while before speaking again. He decides to ask a question that's been on his mind for a while.]

I also had another question - a hypothetical one, if you will. Say that you met someone who was like you in every way, from appearance to personality, except that they aren't actually the real you, but just a copy. How would you treat them, knowing that they aren't actually you?

There's a younger version of me and another guy around, yeah. Both of them are gone now.

[The boy's wording gets a tilt of her head. Previously she'd been assuming either 'sent back' or the more likely 'died of withdrawal'...]

[It's pretty risky for him to ask questions like these, but he imagines people are going to find out that he's from Mayfield, and then find out what Mayfield really is, so it's important to see what he'll need to do to prepare for it.]

I don't know. For all I know they might be keeping her elsewhere instead of "sending her home".

...Well, I was an asshole at that age, so. The other kinda-nearly destroyed the Earth a few times. [so hostility? Yeah, kinda. When it came to the Nagisas she's not even sure whether it was the one she punched in the face or not]

You mean like another district? Transport's the main issue there... unless we're right in assuming the effects of the restricted districts is some kind of defence system.

I don't know, for all we know they could have some hidden lab somewhere.

If they do have a lab, it would have to be in the areas we're safe to enter, right?

I see...that sounds pretty scary. I'd be really upset with myself if there was a version of me trying to destroy the world.

I think so. If we can even access it in the first place.

Well, the version of me specifically was just an asshat. I was dumb when I was a kid. As for the other guy... well, he and his duplicate basically did the same thing, so not much animosity between them there...

Goodness, that sounds really complicated. [And he thought he had it rough being just one clone.] So um, how did you get so many duplicates?

This place drags people in even from alternate timelines by the sounds of it. Duplicates were the alternative versions of us.

[Alternate timelines...it made sense, but it still makes his blood run cold. What if the real Luke actually does show up? The thought makes him feel sick to his stomach.]
