[001 ¤ Video] Flight Hazards & Preparations

He has no problem getting the terminal on even if the buttons are a little undersized for his fingers, but the feed opens to a shot of sleek gray thighs and hip skirting panels before he squats down to smile into the camera.]

Greetings, to those of you whom I haven't met, my name is Wing. I have a message--a warning really--and a question for you all.

Firstly, to those of you capable of flight, please do be careful. The power drain that effects the closed off sections of the city does not dissipate with altitude. And well, withdrawals while flying is...not pleasant nor conducive to staying airborne. [He makes a very not-so-happy face; clearly he found this out the hard way.]

[And yes that means he's been flying around the city a bit the past two weeks or so. Jets aren't exactly the quietest of vehicles, even energon efficient ones, so you may have even spotted the white and red alien jet exploring the airspace over the city at some point.]

Lastly, is there anyone here who has experience or information regarding the needs of humanoids for safe flight in a vehicle? Such as oxygen mix, tolerance for g-forces and the like? I need data for...a project I'm working on.

[America's already given him some information, but the more he has the better, given the health and wellness of any potential passengers is at risk.]

Thank you! It's greatly appreciated. I'm trying to develop some specifications for a minor reconfiguration of my frame. You see I have the space to carry passengers but cannot do so safely or comfortably yet.

[Granted he doesn't have much in the way of places to GO, but even small flights around the open districts might be fun for his friends. But oh, maybe he's leaving something important out?]

And what about the thing with humans? Are you gonna take them flying? Do you have a space ship?

I hope to yes. But I want to do it safely. [He chuckles.] Haha, no, I'm capable of flight myself. My body transforms into a jet.

[that earns a sigh] So the drain affects you as well? We have a few other fliers on magic as well; they've had the same issue.

As for that last one, [she raises a hand] I was a Captain of the European Air Force, while it existed. I've also piloted robots specifically.

Unfortunately, yes. The withdrawal symptoms are a little different given our different biology, but it's no less unpleasant from what I've seen. So it effects even magic as well?

[He frowns. He's still getting used to the idea of magic in a real, proven sense, but part of him wanted it to stand up to the hype and be immune to all this.]

Oh, then you'd be willing to help me? Ah, maybe not with the piloting part specifically... [ YIKES] Honestly I'm still deciding how much of a control system I'm comfortable including as a failsafe...

If you're worried about self control; panic switch and a remote. Remote only works if you trigger the panic switch. Remote means your backup doesn't need to be physically present. We'd need to bolt cameras on somewhere to see where we're flying but frankly, if you're flying, I'd want to do that anyway. [never underestimate aerial photography for espionage purposes]

Of course, you could just dodge the issue and keep up with the hug quota.

[He puts a thoughtful finger to his helm.] That could work, assuming I have a skilled backup I can trust. The cameras are trickier. If we want something permanent, it needs to be fully integrated or I'll just sheer them off during transformation. It'd also be good have flight controls in the cockpit if the passenger is skilled enough to take over, which I could lock out if we, uh, had a disagreement over control.

[He chuckles a bit, since Diarmuid is currently offering to help with that very thing. ] In a perfect world I could, flawlessly. But beyond that issue, if I'm considering trying to breach the closed districts...things get more complicated.

[A pair of wide, concerned, golden eyes almost completely fill the video as their owner is probably standing just a tab too close to the camera.]

Are you suffering from 'touch withdrawal?'

[That was what Lord Vexen had called it, wasn't it?]

Do I need to come give you a hug?

[He will ask about the fun stuff like the flying once he is sure his friend is okay.]

Diarmuid, I'm fine. I was a little shaky for a bit but I'm better now.

[He grins at the easy way the boy offers help.]

You can give me a hug anytime you like though, regardless of if it's needed or not. [Because those are the best hugs.]

If I saw you everyday, I would give you a hug everyday! Hugs are fun and that way no one gets sick! I don't want anyone to be sick when there is no reason to be.

[He tries to put on a stern face, but with a face like his it's not something he's very successful doing. Maybe shaking a finger at Wing will help?]

I think you have the right of it there lad, I agree. You're in Building One yes? Maybe I should come see you in the morning?

[That stern face on those small features is not one Wing could deny, he'd never have it in his spark to do so. Plus, this lets him make sure the boy gets his quota taken care of too, though he's probably less at risk than Wing is.]

[Well this is an organic of a type he hasn't seen before. Not that he's seen a tremendous number in person, but alien diversity in his universe covers a pretty broad spectrum so it's more interesting than shocking. He blinks curiously for a moment, before recovering his manners.]
