[Kaworu is sitting at a terminal, again in the common room of his building, and he seems as content as ever. He's also... somewhat poorly dressed, bearing a lovely array of colors which just don't go together. Dark greens, mild oranges, a random smatter of beige... He has what looks like a purple handkerchief tied around his upper arm, too. Kaworu, please.

He says, easily,] Good afternoon. For anyone listening, I wanted to pose a question. I've been enjoying the media center here; it is a good source of wonder. In particular, I've been very pleased with the music that I've found. Though, something's stood out to me: there is no music that I am familiar with from where I came from. Given the great prominence of Bach and Beethoven and Handel, even after hundreds of years, it's very certain that this place is wholly separate. More importantly, [in his opinion,] the only way I can reconnect with that music now is to reminisce on it myself. Or to play some of it myself. Further into town, there's a music shop which houses instruments, and they've indulged me a few times. Still, I've found immeasurable joy in experiencing the new music this place has to offer.

What I'm wondering, then, is if any of you - from different places, since there seem to be so many - have any songs you'd like to share. I'd be pleased to learn them. If you'd care to sing, I think it would be good. It would bring great happiness to all of us, isn't that so?

[And he seems so serene, yet - at the same time, earnest - that he must really believe that such an activity will bestow enlightenment upon these poor kidnapped masses.

Ah, a thought.] That's right. Kaworu may see this as well. If so, Kaworu, why don't we go down and play something together sometime soon? We should talk.

[ kaworu follows the other ] Quite a lot, yes. There is much I still don't understand and would like to know, but I suppose I have time to learn.

And you? Anything that caught your attention, recently?

Plenty of time, it seems, if we are to stay here.

I have been watching the Lilin interact with one another a great deal. An opportunity this natural has never been presented to me before. Seeing them together always provides beautiful sights. [He stalls at a rack of violins, examining their make, leaning down a little to better see them.]

I do agree, though this place requires something that I wouldn't call "natural". Forcing contact and thus interaction is something most don't feel comfortable or agree to.

[ they do have the choice of refusing. But the pain that will bring them is perhaps greater than the discomfort of touching another. ]

Have you had the chance to be part of their interactions, though? [ aka, have you made friends, Kaworu?

And forgive him. He knows you asked to play together, but he finds this conversation a lot more important ]

[His finger lightly taps a violin string, testing its tautness.] That's very true. Their interactions are unable to be wholly organic, because the manner of their meetings is so artificial. Still, it's more laymen together than I have ever had the chance to see. [Seele personnel seemed even more artificial in their dealings with him, after all.

He turns his face up to smile at his other. The music can wait.] I have had meaningful conversations.

I am sure with time they will be able to find some comfort. Even if the situation does not please them, Lilin are capable of finding happiness when they least expect.

[ Kaworu smiles wide at the answer. ] I'm glad. I'm sure you will have the chance for even more.

I agree. [He straightens again, abandoning his appraisal of the violin. His hands are back in his pockets.] What about yourself? Have you been experiencing the Lilin well?

I have been watching them and reading what I can about them. [ he is kind of passive, to be honest. Lilin matters are lilin matters and he puts space between him and them because he is an angel, after all ]

I also had the chance to talk to few people on the network.

The conversations are always very interesting. It is a good opportunity.

Yet, you have a friend here.

[Kaworu blinks] A friend?

Ikari Shinji-kun, that is. [Because Q believes that a 'friend' is what Shinji requires, and naturally, every Kaworu should be that friend. This is how he thinks. His definition of friendship, of course, is lacking.]

[ ah... Kaworu smiles but it's difficult to tell what he is truly thinking. He does, however, shake his head. ] We are not friends.

[ because that would mean reciprocation and Kaworu doesn't need it. He loves Shinji regardless of what the boy feels ]

That is precisely what he fears right now, Kaworu. [Looks like they're at a smiling impasse.]

I believe you told me Shinji-kun seemed better in matters of being more at ease. [ though Kaworu did... Upset him last few times they spoke ]

Yes. The environment seems to be better for him. However, our dual presence has brought him to confusion, and I believe that we have both lead him to doubt. He recognizes a difference between yourself and myself.

Doubt? [ Kaworu's expression becomes softer. Maybe a little apologetic { It was not my intention.

This situation would bring him pain, I has already realized that.

I know that it wasn't your intention. Shinji-kun's sense of trust is brittle, and he has already faced much betrayal. It must be difficult for him to see through the cloudiness of his own heart.

I think that he would like to talk with you, more and more. I am the abnormality between you two, and I understand that. He wants to understand as well. After listening to him, I believe that it's what he would find worthwhile.

[ with him? kaworu blinks a bit at that. ] You're not an abnormality. [ he is Kaworu. Shinji couldn't even tell the difference at first ] I'm not sure if that is wise. I have made Shinji-kun suffer last few times we spoke. I will make him suffer again. [ he would rather not ]

Is his heart more at ease with you? In less pain?

Aren't I? Thanks to Shikinami, Shinji-kun is aware, somewhat, of my circumstances. [That is, the whole 'I know this Shinji but I came from a place with another Shinji' thing.] This worries him. And... [He sets a hand on Kaworu's shoulder.] He suffers when he is not speaking with you. You still have the opportunity to soothe him. You should take it.

I think Shinji-kun is more at ease with you. You soothe him, even if he is confused. Because you know him, after all.

As long he is less lonely and as long he doesn't fall in despair, it's all it matters.
