[The video starts with a close-up of a man's face. He blinks several times, and then breaks out into a wide grin.]

Ah! I believe it is recording now, yes? [He straightens to his full height, but since the terminals are set at a height equal to about his waist, the feed is filled with the image of his breastplate and robes.

He stops and makes a surprised sound, and he squats again so that it focuses on his face.] Goodness. Why did they place these machina at...? Ah, well. [He smiles brightly.]

Hello! I am Braska. I have two things I would like to address today.

The first is to offer my services to any who need it, free of charge. I am a skilled healer with years of experience, and I need not rely entirely on White Magic. I am also capable of using natural herbal remedies, though I need some time to accustom myself to what is available here in Saeng Seong. I have to admit, I am not skilled in the use of machina and other advanced techniques, but if anyone would be willing to teach me, I would love to learn!

Now, of course, I am sure there are those of you who are asking, "what's the catch?" If it would make you feel better, you may pay me, but I truly will not ask for anything from you in exchange. This is something I did for a living many years ago when I was a priest. I want nothing more than to help. Please, do believe me in this.

Now, my second topic! I would like to hear about the magic where you are from. I have been studying magic since I was young, so it is of a special interest of mine, you see! Or, if you are from a place without magic, as difficult as it is for me to imagine... How does your home operate without it? I am willing to explain these things about where I am from, if you are interested!

I assure you, I am highly unlikely to judge someone simply for "what" they are.

Hmmmm. We have ice boxes, electricity, and some engine-powered vehicles... but not many. We certainly don't have any machina like these terminals! If something like it was introduced to Spira, it would be revolutionary.

I can imagine. This kind of thing is pretty common in my world... Most of the people I knew had a smaller version they could carry with them, called a phone. You could just talk with people, do a video like this, or just send text. Most of the ones I know could take pictures or record video, too, along with a lot of other things. [He's starting to realize how complicated this all must sound to someone not familiar with it...]

I'm hoping to get a phone here soon, myself. It would be nice to be able to keep in touch with people on the network without having to be at a specific place...

Seventh Fonists are people who can use the Seventh Fonon - that's the only way there is to heal, on Auldrant.

[And while it's true that strong concentrations of fonons are sometimes visible, it's not very common, unlike what Braska seems to be describing.]

And even then it takes a lot of training. If I tried to heal someone, I'd probably do more hurt than good.

Yeah, but I haven't been studying magic for very long. Only a couple of years, and I had to teach myself a lot of it. Both my parents were mages, but daddy kept it a secret from me.

That's... [not the answer he was expecting] ...very interesting. I'm sure learning such a skill didn't come easily.

You mean the machines? [Well, he can't say Sora paid attention in keyboarding class, but-] I'm not in need of healing or anything, but I wouldn't mind showing you how to use a few things.

[Because what is having two best friends who can use Cure better than you can?]

...And I can't say I'm an expert in magic, but I know a couple spells. It isn't uncommon for some from my world to learn at least one element to defend themselves, or learn to use a weapon.

[He won't have to wait very long before she shows up; a tiny blonde thing, skulking around nearby as though still somewhat hesitant to approach the man. Despite the heat, she's entirely covered up - a bulky, long-sleeved shirt and floor length skirt - but there doesn't seem to be anything else unusual about her...]

[Braska stands near six feet, but his presence isn't an intimidating one, especially with the strangeness of his robes and headdress. When he spots the girl he recognizes from the terminal, his smile widens and he waves her over with his free hand. In his other, he holds what seems to be a tall walking stick topped with a simple large blue crystal.]

I do! Ah, there are so many kind people here... I would appreciate that very much!

To defend themselves, hmm? An unfortunate thing for our homes to share in common.

It did take some doing, I'll admit. The hardest parts were sitting down and focusing... and all the studying we were made to do.

If her dad were here she'd never hear the end of this, wandering out on her own to meet a crazy guy who claimed he could do magic, but...well, her dad wasn't here, and frankly that display over the terminal had looked pretty neat. And if she wasn't willing to take risks for neat things when her dad wasn't there to stop her, what was even the point.]

Mom died fighting in a magic war, so he did it to keep me safe. I understand why, but I'm still kinda mad at him for it.

Shura nods in approval. "That's good to know. I'm glad."

[Laughing or not, hearing that makes M'gann wince. It's almost too close to her own family's circumstances, and wasn't a reminder she was expecting when she walked into this conversation.]

"That..."

[Even after hearing all that, there's still the stubborn background thought that she shouldn't dare speak like this and challenge anything said. But given those uncomfortable similarities, M'gann forces herself to voice her thoughts around it, anyway.]

"Th-that isn't right. I mean, they're high standing people of course! But...That shouldn't make it right for them to do something like that."

That's so interesting... [It's said with a bit of wonder, and a little hesitation as he seems to ponder.]

I wonder if the ancients, maybe even the Knights of Cybertron, had similar abilities. [He's certain Primus does, being the bringer of Life himself.] My Great Sword has the ability to tap my very life essence and draw upon its power. They are ancient relics though, such feats are not common among us and certainly no individual has that capability.

Good. Though of course that requires someone to be in need of healing, and I doubt there are many who would take kindly to waiting for myself and my studies while they bleed.

No magic where I'm from; it's all base principles, maths and the laws of physics. [...and then you have Angels and Evas, but they both fall in the 'scientific' category from her perspective.]

My homeworld was much like you see here, dimensional kidnappings aside.

Hmmm. I'm not a magician so I couldn't show you much of what I'm talking about. I only know that easy trick where you pull a coin out of a person's ear.

I wouldn't say it's that unfortunate. [Unless you knew a part of his heartpassenger playing "baby come back...", but shh] At least it isn't most of the time.

Um...sure. I'd like that. *He gives Braska the room number easy enough.* I'll be right there! *And he's running, taking off to his room to meet Braska there. Was this happening? After 10 years and more did he finally get to see one of his dearest friends?*
