[The first time this happened was bad enough, but a second time? He was getting very tired of being tossed around by these people. But he would have to do something about that later, right now he needed to check on Bucky. He... he was here, he remembered that. The person he was going to start searching for with Sam was in this city.

It didn't take him long to find Bucky (and Tony). And wow. Those two were definitely something special. They owed him a big explanation for this.

After he made sure that those idiots were getting some sort of rest, Steve decided to toss something up on the network. He definitely knew how to use it and he needed to address some of the people here. Best and fastest way was to do this.]

Just lost another three days here. [He tried to look easygoing about it, but there was definitely some irritation in his now more modern features. His hair was a little shorter and he was actually wearing jeans with a non-plaid shirt.] And looks like I missed a whole lot while I was gone.

[Tony explained what happened, the malfunctioning of the suit. The fight. It was a big mess, but at least they were going to recover. A lot of his irritation disappeared at the thought and now he looked grateful as he continued to address the video.]

But wanted to thank those that checked up on Bucky and Tony, made sure they were okay. I wasn't there to help when I should've been. [Maybe it wasn't his fault, but he still felt responsible. However, he tried to push away that guilt for now and instead smiled a little wryly at the feed.] They're friends of mine that get into more trouble than they should. Can't look away from them for two seconds before they come back bloodied and bruised.

[Although, Steve wasn't really better. Probably worse, actually. But details.]

And if anyone wants to tell me their side, be happy to hear it.

Wouldn't call it being a hero, just wanna do what's right. Not always easy I found, prefer just knowin' who to punch. [And he's pretty certain that some people in the US government doesn't like him very much after the whole stint with SHIELD.] Be great if I can get them all unemployed though, maybe I can finally go to a retirement home.

[Strongarm?? That's a new nickname for Bucky. How many nicknames does he have now anyway?]

James Buchanan Barnes. He's my best friend, ever since we were young.

Not exactly mutually exclusive, though. But I'm the same way. Just give me a target and I'll throw a fist. Much easier than having to think about things.

[But she tilts her head a bit, finding that last part amusing.]

[Of course, it's upsetting that HYDRA came back when he thought they were gone, but at least he knew that he had to stop them. Although, if it was SHIELD doing the same thing, his goal wouldn't change either. Project Insight needed to stopped no matter what.]

Far from it. [It's still rather difficult to talk about this, but he's going to try. To an extent.] Honestly, he couldn't be more different now.

Soldiers I guess appreciate it more than some others.

[Granted she was never in a war, but she knows how to fight, at least.]

[She actually wasn't expecting that. Her face falls a little.]

Yeah. [A lot of different somethings. Falling down the ravine, being captured by HYDRA, brainwashed and put into cryo when he's not killing someone. So many horrible things that makes Steve sick when he thinks about it.]

Partially my fault, but I'm gonna be here for him now. [Although, he's curious about something.] How did you meet Bucky?

[And she can see it in the way his face falls. In all the time she's known him here, although brief, she could always see a kind of optimism in him.

Here though, it's like a demon's haunting him.]

[As far as she knows anyway. But at the question, a hand reaches up, rubbing the back of her neck.]

We got here at the same time, actually. Met him at the welcome wagon party. Never saw a human before him.

[She's right, he can't change the past, no matter how much he wants to go back in time and do things better. Be a little faster, be stronger and save Bucky from his fate as the Winter Soldier. Even if Bucky is now in the 'future' with him, Steve wouldn't have wished for him to go through all that. He'd rather be alone than for Bucky to be tortured and brainwashed.

But he tries to get himself out of those thoughts, there's no point in thinking about something that he cannot fix. Instead, he listens to her story and smiles a little in response.]

Did he leave a good first impression of the human race? [If Bucky was scared and violent though, Steve wouldn't hold it against him. It's very disorienting arriving here without warning.]

[She sees that change in demeanor, the way Steve's face drops. In a way, Steve was a lot like Windblade. They just wanted to do the right thing, and the regrets of past decisions weighed heavily on them. But they kept going with that mentality, serving their people because they want to, not out of some obligation.

Always smiling, too. Chromia may have had muscle to spare, but their strength was something she didn't have.]

[The question makes her chuckle slightly, resting her arms against her chest.]

As quiet as always. Feeding him certainly helped.

Went with the food tactic?

[Food is definitely a great way to break the ice with someone. Hard to say no to offered food, at least Steve always had a hard time saying no to it. He grew up poor and after the serum, he just had to eat a whole lot more.]

Definitely effective. Difficult to stay grumpy at someone that gives you free food.

More like pure luck. He was convinced it was poisoned.

[She smiles fondly, remembering that whole scenario. He wasn't all to talkative (that didn't really change much), but he's definitely shown improvement since then.]

A drink always softens me up too. But don't tell anyone.

[Bucky why.]

Your secret's safe with me. [Although, that makes him curious about something...] This might be a silly question, but what do you drink? [They're made of metal of some sort, right? He hopes he doesn't sound rude though.]

[It's okay, Steve. She's pretty much admitted to Bucky that's it's almost impossible to be upset with you. You're just so POSITIVE and A GOOD INFLUENCE UGH.

's called Energon. Like a...glowing substance of...stuff. You'd have to ask Nautica on the details of what's exactly in it but...think like...

[He radiates positive energy. It's pretty gross.]

Blue lava. [Steve slowly repeats, trying to imagine drinking something like that. Hard to really think about it really, but hey, he's not one to judge.] There's nothing like that here though. You doin' okay without it?

[Ugh keep it away from her she might catch it.]

[At his question, though, she gives a little 'hmph' of amusement.]

It helps having an engineer as a best friend. She's good at making converters. Nothing to really worry about on my end.

[You can't resist forever.]

Know someone like that too. [Tony's not his best friend though, but maybe he would get along with this engineer friend of hers.] But glad that she's able to do that. Being brought here sounds a lot more jarring for you guys.

For some of us, yeah. Others...they've been on Eart--[She'll get saying that right one day]--before. Disguised, but they've been there.

How do you disguise yourself? [He hasn't seen the robot transformations yet, so Steve wonders how people missed giant robots roaming around Earth. Course this might be a different Earth and people do know about them. Parallel universes and all that.]

[He can stand around and wait, even though part of him is still a little confused about what's going on. But soon enough, Bucky shoos him away to go meet Chromia out in the front.]

[He doesn't have to wait long. In fact, about the time he gets outside, there's a bright blue bike approaching from down the street, rolling up and parking itself just outside the housing area.

And waits.

To see if he gets it.]

[Oh what a nice looking motorcycle. Nice color and... where's the driver? Steve stares for a moment before it finally hits him.
