[Even now she has the feed running, there's a pause as though Rise's making a final decision as to how wise this is before nodding to herself and starting to speak]

All right. I'm still not sure what's going on here and I'm still not convinced this isn't connected to something else. Especially not with all these shadows around...and the voices...

[She shivers a little at that before brushing it aside and shifting to something more cheerful, not entirely faked but possibly a touch forced]

Anyway. My point is, I guess it's not going to hurt to get to know people while I'm here, especially with what we're here for. So, my name's Rise Kujikawa but if you're from Japan you might recognise me as Risette...if you pay attention to that sort of thing, I mean.

[It's like Mitsuru all over again only to a bigger audience]

Which leaves me with just one question: who's going to this festival thing? Sounds like it should be interesting, and a pretty good excuse to meet people too, right? So let me know if you're going and maybe we can meet up.

[She cuts the feed, then, but she's not quite done. This next part, she transmits via her Persona, reaching out to anyone with a Persona of their own whether she knows them or not - if she can pick up on the Persona, she's reaching out. Those with telepathy or similar may also find themselves hearing it]

[He's finishing up his shift at work just as he hears Rise's voice in his mind. Was she able to do that before or was it recent?]

I can hear you. Is everything alright?

I'm fine. Just wanted to test something.

[Yu, she'd expected to hear from of course. Though she soon follows that with something else]

Though these shadows...there's something more to them. I think they need help but I can't get an idea of what they want.

[Only that the more she hears them, the more she feels the weight of needing to do something about it]

What all can you hear?

[Now this is curious...]

They just keep calling...keep asking for help...I've been trying to figure out what they need but I can't get anything more from them.

[And she sounds not a little tired from it]

[Hm, that is odd. He knew about the shadows but when they start speaking is when he knows something is up.]

Do you hear them everywhere or in certain areas?

[Any kind of clue can help them at this point.]

I'm not sure...it feels like they're closer than they were before. But maybe I'm missing something...I do feel really tired.

[Because really she should have stopped a while ago]

[...he's going to need to take her back to her place.]

Would you like me to walk you back to your place?

[He asks because he does not want the same thing like when he passed out due to the heat problem.]

'I hear you,'

[M'gann pauses when she hears and feels that question. Even if she's already met one telepath, hearing another in so many days is enough to stop her short and demand all her attention.

And also demand at least a touch of friendliness to her thoughts.]

'Hello? I don't think we've met before, mind to mind?'

[Though the voice seems...Kind of familiar? It's right on the edge of her memories.]

[It's not necessarily a source she's expected to hear from and she's not entirely sure how to place it. It doesn't feel the same as it does when her Persona links to another Persona - it's like there's a link in the chain missing, her Persona the sole conduit for this rather than a mutual connection.]

Um...hello? I thought this only worked with other Persona users but I can't sense one...who is this?

[She sounds more confused than suspicious, just, but there's still a hint of the latter there]

'Persona-what?'

[She sounds just as bewildered, and there's a stray murmur of thought in her head, easy enough to overhear; that maybe that's just a different term for psychic powers.]

'Sorry, I should answer your question first.'

[She jumps back to the initial conversation, focusing on introductions first. Politeness is important when speaking, after all! Whether that's mind to mind or verbal.]

'My name is M'gann. M'gann M'orzz, actually.'

I don't know that name...okay, this is weird. How can I talk to you like this if you don't have a Persona?

[She's not deliberately seeking to be impolite but she's really not sure how this is happening and she'd rather make sure she knows that part first]

[...Then again, maybe Persona ISN'T a term for psychic powers, if this voice in her mind is talking like she doesn't have it. M'gann shakes her head, the confusion behind that gesture palpable through the link.]

'Well, back on Mars, this is how we communicate; all our speech is telepathic. The weirdest thing was finding out people on Earth don't usually talk like this.'

[And...Forgive her if she's starting to sound more excited through the link. But finding someone else with psychic abilities and at least isn't hostile? That's pretty exciting for her.]

Mars?

[Okay, that wasn't what she was expecting but somehow it makes everything make a little more sense. Psychic aliens isn't such a weird concept, right?

Well okay, it is a little, but M'gann seems friendly enough]

I guess that would explain it. Weird that I managed to pick up on it, though...not in a bad way. Just surprising I guess.

'I know! I was surprised too, when I heard your voice; people here usually speak with words, so hearing you was like...Well, it wasn't QUITE like home,'

[For instance, there wasn't a harsh note in her mental voice, which goes hand in hand with mental contact outside of M'gann's own family.]

'But it was still nice to hear. I don't know a lot of other telepaths on...Or from Earth. You are from Earth, right?'

[And with some information out of the way, it's clearly time to ease into the chatterbox stage.]

[His mindvoice, though quiet and somewhat weary, sounds as though it's been filtered through technology, mainly because it has.]

I can hear you.

[Well that's different once again, a filter and yet not the one she's expecting]

Sorry for asking...how? This doesn't feel like what I'm used to.

My peoples' psionic abilities are augmented through technology.

[Still just as calm. Emotionless, even.]

So that's it. Guess this is what I get for thinking the only people who'd hear this are other Persona users.

[That's how it would work at home, after all]

I do not know what persona is. This... illustrates the differences between everyone's universes. It does not exist in the universe I am from.

Strange...not that it's a bad thing. I hope. I just didn't expect it would work with other kinds of...I guess telepathy?

I am curious--how would such a thing be disadvantageous?

You're probably right about networking being a good idea... my name's Dick. I think it'd be good to know people so that if you need a handshake, you're not afraid to ask for it.

[He smiles.]

What makes Risette recognizable? That sounds like something important to knowing you.

It's nice to meet you. I figure no point in hiding away completely, right?

And, well, I'm an idol back home. Risette's my stage name...probably more people back home would recognise me by that name than by Rise, actually.

[Maybe not so much these days but she still wouldn't be surprised]

Teen idol kind of thing? I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to hide away.

They're both pretty names. Performing is something we sort of have in common, although I was a circus acrobat, not a... singer or whatever. You don't get nearly as famous, but my family was well-known in those circles.

Well- I've met a version of you. I guess it'd be too much to hope for that you'd be the same one...

[Which is kind of disappointing, but well. Not much to be done about it. She smiles though, expression tinged with sheepishness.]

[Although, the 'version of' has her worrying for a moment]

She didn't happen to have yellow eyes, did she? This other me, I mean.

Yellow eyes? No, not at all.

[She pauses, considers.]

The place I met you... it was someplace kind of like this? Where people get pulled in from their own worlds to help. Apparently, people not remembering they'd been there before happened a lot. It's... probably the same here.

Oh...I see. So I wouldn't remember being there even if that was me?

[Not that there are many other options if it wasn't her Shadow - she's pretty sure she's the only her she knows of, Shadow aside]

Nope. It's weird, but it's probably best for the sake of not affecting people's normal lives.

Probably. Life's weird enough without having to remember you were kidnapped to some other dimension.

[Again. The TV world is strange enough without having to remember this too when she eventually goes back]

Exactly. I'm pretty sure this place must do it too, in some cases. But you can never tell- after all, I'm here and I remember the last place I was in...

[She wrinkles her nose a bit.]

Honestly, why does helping people have to get so complicated.

But I wasn't in the middle of anything important back home at the moment, so it's fine.

[ This is a pretty different case - instead of there being telepathy but no Persona, this case is the other way around. She might sense something very, very similar to a Persona if not almost the same - Josuke's Stand -, but it doesn't send any message back to her. If she can locate it though or tries to find where it is, she will find Josuke wandering on the street instead. ]

[Well, that is unusual. Perhaps this is like with Pixie only that time at least Pixie spoke to her. There's not much she can do to track it down without having to be outside with her Persona, but she will at least occasionally track where the presence is and whether it's coming within range of the apartments so she can catch a glimpse of it]

[ After a while if she happens to check she might feel the presence near the apartments. And if she looks, she might actually be able to see his Stand since she can actually sense Persona too. It's a strange figure floating right behind the guy walking around in a sailor uniform who is right about the enter the apartments building. ]
