[The man on the screen is a bit tall, if the camera angle is any indication. He is dressed in a tight navy uniform and a cape. Someone please tell him that Halloween isn't for another month.

He has a rather frightening stare, though. Maybe... tell him next time.]

I require a sparring partner. I use a sword and shield, but you can use whatever you're comfortable with. I know some magic as well.

[A pause.]

Meet me in District 2, in the small park at [intersection].

[He shuts the feed off after an awkward silence.]

[ Batgirl knows not this 'Halloween' of which you speak, as she calls from one of the many public consoles to accept your challenge. ]

Not recently. Are you offering?

[ Somebody couldn't be bothered to get a portable device. ]

I'm always up for a little sparring, and I've never gone up against someone with a sword before. [ Damian doesn't count. ]

Perhaps we may both learn something.

[He straightens a little.]

I will be at the park until after sunset. You have some time to prepare, if necessary.

[Kratos cuts off the feed. As promised, Kratos can be found patiently resting in the park whenever she makes her way down there. There's nothing else here except a few swing sets and a mercenary. He looks a bit out of place-- what with the sword resting across his knees and the weird uniform-- like someone from a different age.

Not too far from the truth, really.

He is extremely difficult to read, but he'll get to his feet if she approaches.]

[ There's something comfortingly nostalgic about the swing-set, and she thinks it's a great place to have a sparring match. She takes the staff off of her belt as she approaches and presses the button that extends it from less than a foot long to a full-sized staff. ]

You ready to have some fun?

[It's not the first time he's seen a trick like that. he dusts off his knees, then straightens. A calm hand on his sword, he greets her with... his version of a welcoming expression. He hopes, anyway. He's not actually sure.

He draws his sword, adjusts the buckler on his elbow.]

It should be... interesting.

[He's going to be going easy on her, most likely.]

[ As he draws she sinks into a ready position, staff held in front of her as a guard. She's not trying to grin, but the look is there, and it's one that's ready for excitement. ]

Gentlemen first.

[ If she can lure him into the first attack she'll have a good lead. If not, well, she can always charge in with a feint. ]

Unconventional, but I accept your invitation.

[Kratos doesn't even seem to move. One moment he's there, the next he's right in front of her, feet barely touching the grass. He launches his off hand forward with the shield, trying to lure her into blocking that. At the same time, he stabs at her side with his sword.]

[ She stumbles back, surprised by his speed and not so practiced with her staff that it works on instinct. Still, she has enough awareness to see him move towards her side and she blocks that blow rather than focus on the shield. She follows through on the block to take a swing at his sword side, stepping back to get away from the shield. ]

[Whoops, maybe he came at her too fast. He wasn't sure if she had augmented powers or not, and that kind of cemented his theory regarding that. When she comes at him from his dominant side, he's forced to duck, trying to push the staff high with whatever control he still has over his sword arm. It'd worked on Raine before, at least, but he hasn't fought against her in months. And he won't be doing it again.

With the limited space he has, he pushes forward again, trying to slam her in the middle with his shield.]

[ Steph is all acrobatics and no augmentation. She moves her hands to spin the staff, letting his push add force to the opposite end that swings down behind her and back up towards his side. The spiral motion continues as she rolls to the left to get away from the shield and strike at his back, rising easily out of the roll and back to her feet. She always does better when she keeps moving and uses the opponent's strength against them. A staff is a good tool for her skills. ]
