[With the recent temperature fiasco, Pilouette hadn't been paying attention and September kind of snuck up on her. Now with a particular day coming up, she's found that she's ended up with a somewhat...odd problem. Having found herself unable to figure out an answer on her own, she decides to turn to the network. ]

You all know how people can come here from different worlds and different times and stuff, right? Well, um...hypothetically. Say someone just had their birthday. Like, maybe a month before coming here. But only a few months after getting here, it's already their birthday again!

Do I...uh, they just keep being the same age and wait a whole year or should they say they're older now? Oh! But the year is different, too, isn't it? I wonder if that matters...I've been thinking about it all day, but it just seems like, so totally complicated...!

[Pilouette has pretty much given up the whole "hypothetical" veil by now since she's tripped up so much already.]

Yeah...I think you're right. I think I'm just going to ignore it! I'm going to ignore this birthday and start the year over! I think that's the easiest way to do it...

Makes sense. How many years old would you have been if you would've gone through with it?

Um, I would have been 17. I mean, it's not an important age or anything, but...[She shrugs her shoulders.] ...well, it's the kind of thing people have to keep track of, right?

I guess. I don't really know what important ages there are for a human...

I think eighteen is the only really important one. When you're eighteen-

[...Did she say "for a human?" Now that she thinks about it, this person does look...different from most people she's met. Maybe she shouldn't push it. Would that be rude? After a moment, she continues.]

Uh, w-well, in some places, when a person is eighteen, they're an adult!

Yeah? I guess that means you better enjoy these years while you still can.

While I still...W-Well, it's still a pretty long ways away! Besides, even when I turn eighteen, I'll still be pretty young, even if I'm an adult. ...Plus, when I'm an adult, I'll be able to do all kinds of stuff, anyway. So I'm looking forward to it.

I haven't spent that long in the surface world to know what you'll be able to do once you make it to eighteen years. Is there really that much you can't do right now?

W-Well, yeah! Right now, I'm still considered a kid! But when I'm eighteen, I can...um...I can vote! And do jury duty! And, um...o-open a bank account...

[Now that she's really thinking about it, all those things sound really boring. REALLY boring.]

But being an adult is like...a whole new chapter in life! O-Or something!

[Yeah none of those sound interesting to her. At all.]

Sounds like it, but I think you'll be fine.

[What could possibly go wrong?]

O-Of course I'll be fine! I almost an adult anyway. Well, kind of. So I bet I could totally handle it!

[Maybe.]

...But I guess I have enough time to get ready for being an adult or...whatever.

About a whole year, right? I'd say that's more than enough time to get ready.

[Do humans really need that long?]

W-Well, since I'm ignoring this year, it's more like two years. It's way more than enough time, I guess. But I'll probably be home by the time that happens, right? So, maybe I'll just deal with it when I get to it...

[Though, she's going to keep trying her best to act like a totally cool mature adult. Who wants to be a kid, right?]

[Live out your dreams, or whatever.]

Yeah, we'll all be long gone in two years.

[Or so she'd like to hope.]

[Pilouette gives a confident nod, even if she's not actually all that confident about when they'll be going home.]

Totally! That should be more than enough time to generate enough power, right? It's not like this place is very big, anyway...

It better be. I really don't want to be stuck here for that many years.

[What exactly are you going to do, Nami? Flop?]

I-I'm sure we won't be! I mean, they keep bringing in more people, so it'll probably all be solved really soon! Right?!

[Or maybe they just aren't getting enough power, but that would be ridiculous. ...Right?]

I guess there's only gonna be one way to find out.

Yeah...Too bad that way is basically just like, hang out and keep touching people. [A sigh.] It can't be helped or whatever, but still.
