[[ return from hiatus as well, went with the coma option so no he hasn't been around for a week or two. <3 ]]
[ The camera clicks on but it's shaking really badly in the hands of the disoriented Canadian holding onto it. His teeth chatter and there is a flurry of movement as he repositions himself and sits up. He hasn't even looked at the other videos, too busy pulling on as many clothes as he had. Kumajiro is resting his large head on his shoulder, looking tired but worried as he chuffs in his master's ear.
Matt would probably be more touched by Kumajiro's concern if he could actually focus on something else than his trembling. It was all he could do to reach out for help. He didn't even think he could make it out of his apartment he's so groggy and out-of-it. The first sight you'll see is Matthew rubbing his eyes with his free hand- huddled up in his bed without his glasses on. ]
W-What's going on? I j-just woke up out of a r-really weird dream 'm so c-c-cold! I c-can't have slept that long right- is it w-winter all of a sudden? I d-don't think I have a fever...
[ His teeth clack loudly as he switches the phone to another hand, hugging the large white bear around his furry neck. The hood of his sweatshirt goes over his head. Swallowing, he shakes his head and mumbles before he puts the phone down. ]
I never g-get cold, eh- Something's v-very wrong...

Is that where you've been? Asleep?
[Not like she missed him or anything, gawds.]
You should get into a hot bath if you can... though if you never get cold--
[A brief narrowing of the eyes.]
--oh, it better not be because of this place.
[ video ]
[ HE'S BEWILDERED. AND COLD. ]
I d-don't know, hot water s-sounds good though, if-f I can leave my blanket.
[ video ]
Never mind...
[A put-upon sigh.]
Am I going to have to send someone to check up on you?
[ video ]
No, what do you mean? How long was I asleep? B-but no I'm f-fine, promise- just gonna turn off my AC...
[ As he tries to push Kumajiro out of the way to do that.
Okay, dude, you might be suffering but your bear is not. Kumajiro lies across his lap and presses down so he doesn't move. Like hell that air conditioning is going anywhere, he'll keep you warm. ]
...or not. [ With a small voice. ]
[ video ]
It's been a while since I last saw you, so... Maybe since then?
[Severa feels a moment of sympathy for him in regards to Kumajiro, and then sighs and shakes her head.]
Maybe I should come by and drop off some of my spare blankets...
[ video ]
[ He latches on and nods enthusiastically. ]
Oh, b-blankets would be awesome!
[ video ]
[But she shakes her head, stepping back from the terminal she's at and waves a hand.]
Make sure your door's open then, be by in a bit.
[ video ]
He thinks of Sevara's nice gesture and nods fervently. To make up for it. ]
'kay yeah I'll go... do that now. Thank you! See you soon?
[ And now he's gonna feel bad for being so cold he doesn't want to move. How dare he. ]
[ video ]
Yeah, soon.
[She'll cut off there to go skittering up to her room, grab a cold drink from her icebox contraption, and then the spare blankets she'd gathered up in one of her cold spells, then head toward Matthew's place, knocking on the door once before just barging in.]
Blanket delivery!
action!;
Where did you get all those! Th-thanks again really...
action!;
[After all, people who weren't there wouldn't miss them.]
And it's no problem-- gawds though, you look miserable. You sure you're going to be okay?
no subject
I'm okay, p-promise. How are you holding up? You aren't sick at all yet?
no subject
[She frowns slightly in return, and leans in to press her hand to his forehead.]
But I can deal with that better than I can the cold. I marched through the Plegian desert in my armor, I'll handle a little heat.
no subject
I wasn't doubting your, uh, toughness, promise. [ Geez though, yeah, he doesn't have but one actual desert. And it's not a big one. Sooo. He's impressed. ]
I hope this doesn't mean it's something contagious. D-do you feel like it's a fever? You should sit down! I've g-got ice in the freezer if you want.
[audio]
His accent, however, is enough to register a faint twinge of sympathy with him, though- Canadians always seem to get the short end of the stick in his world, at least.]
It seems that almost everyone is suffering from some sort of temperature problem. [Though Ataru isn't, for some merciful reason. Perhaps he's simply too new.] Could it be some sort of sickness?
[ audio ]
I g-guess it must be? I hope it isn't...
It's hard to get me sick; U-usually that means it's r-really bad.
[ He usually only gets sick when his country's doing poorly, which isn't often. Though the recession have made the last couple of years before hit or miss on that front. ]
[audio forever]
From the looks of things, this place has a way of overcoming personal resilience. If enough people are affected, though, there may be a greater push for a cure or a vaccine. [He pauses.] Do you have any other symptoms?
no subject
[ Making a muffled noise as he rubs his eyes. ]
Are you sick too?
no subject
no subject
[ Canada kind of blinks for a moment. He rarely thought about whether Kumajiro was hungry or not- Not like the bear was ever shy about saying when he was so he didn't have to usually. ]
Y-you don't think it's contagious do you? M-maybe we should st-stay inside then, I don't w-wanna make someone else sick!
no subject
He doesn't chase it up, regardless.]
Hmm. I'm not so sure. If you just woke up like this after having slept for a reasonably long time, it seems unlikely that you caught it from somewhere else recently. How long have you been asleep for?
no subject
I, eh... I don't know, actually. It's still Friday, r-right?
no subject
no subject
[ Looking panicked, he looks around hurriedly, finally finding his glasses on the windowsill and pushing them on his face. Then he grabs his alarm clock and ogles at the date. ]
I've been asleep for over a w-week! How d-did this happen? Oh, man-- D-did no one notice I was gone?
[ ...not that it would be unusual. To be honest. ]
no subject
Calmly, and in a clipped, almost paternal voice, he answers-] I couldn't possibly tell you- I only arrived here a little while ago. I take it a week isn't normal for you?
no subject
[ He sighs as he rubs his face. This city. He'd had enough of it. ]
Wait when did you get here? Did I miss another group of arrivals?
[ And more importantly why were people still coming here.... ]
no subject
We got here on the eighteenth- it can't have been long after you fell asleep. [Does that make it better or worse...?] My name is Soldier, for the record. Kinnikuman Soldier.
no subject
Nice to meet you, Soldier. I'm Matt-- eh, or Canada, whichever. America wasn't too shy about letting that cat out of the bag.
[ He rolls hie eyes. Typical. There is a reason they have the human names but why would that matter to a country like America. ]
no subject
no subject
[ okay no more avoiding it. Just- Yeah there's no easy to explain this. ]
Yeah, we're- Well, countries right? Lots of them. They each have their own... person who represents them- are the nations, for intents and purposes. And I happen to the the human form of, uh, Canada.
no subject
There's a few moments of dead air as he mulls over that one again, trying to work out if Matt is serious or not. He doesn't sound as though he's joking around- and, if he were, he's not sure where the punchline is- but... really?]
... let me see if I understand you. [He speaks slowly and deliberately.] You are the human personification of the country Canada. As in, Canada- the place- made human.
no subject
Yeah, that's basically the best explanation I can give you. Something bad happens to Canada the country? It happens to me in a more... human version.
no subject
It is still summer. [as is obvious by his state of dress... or rather undress, since he's laying on his back in his apartment and clearly shirtless, again, and sweating]
Some people have been excessively cold and others hot.
no subject
I th-think I'd rather go back to normal summer heat, this is...
[ Eying Kumajiro briefly. ] --Unbearable. Eh, anyway, wh-what's the p-problem? Anyone know?
no subject
no subject
[ With his face in his hands. ]
Are th-there a lot of us suffering from this?
video
[He is hiding in a pile of blankets, himself.]
video;
[ Through chattering teeth. ]
no subject
[He will spend hours telling them how rude and stupid they are if they let him.]
no subject
...W-When I suggested a way t-to encourage more contact, this is n-not what I had in mind.
no subject
no subject
This some kinda prank?
no subject
M-Molossia?
