First Lance - [video]

[The rat woman who may have been seen atop various buildings across the city appears on the screen, sans hat, looking unsure for a moment before appearing to realize the feed is working correctly. She clears her throat quietly before speaking in a serious manner.]

I have a question for you all, if you would be so kind as to answer.

There seem to be many worlds represented in this city, but I have noticed that there are many from a planet called Earth. I am from the planet Gaia, but I have yet to meet anyone from my world, be it the same or an alternate version.

So my question is: What world are you from, and is it similar to this place we've found ourselves in? I would like to see if there is any correlation between the home worlds of people brought here.

It is less about personal feelings and more that I still have duties that need to be completed. [Sort of. She doesn't have an official role in the war anymore, but she does want to end it. Meanwhile, she's dodging questions like a pro...]

[Dodging questions like a true professional. Soushi is not usually one to pry more over another individual's duties and responsibilities.]

It's indeed a treat to be given the chance to speak to another from the same professional background like myself. I never once thought I would be given such a privileged to do so. How long have you been a Dragon Lancer for?

[One of the last questions he has about Dragon Lancers, promise!]

[She gives a grateful smile in reply to his compliment.] I am not sure I would go so far as to say that, but thank you.

[Nobody's really asked her about her Dragon Knight duties yet anyway, so she's open to it. There's not really terribly much to say about it, honestly...]

I've been a Knight for seven years now. Though I cannot help but wonder what you mean by "the same professional background"?

Seven years. What are the qualifications in reaching the level you are in? Do you have to go through a specific type of path beforehand?

[As for her own question, Soushi will offer an apologetic smile as he realized he didn't tell her over his own duties.]

I am very sorry for not having explained myself to you beforehand over my own duties. In my world, I am known as a SS agent or a Secret Service agent. It is a security type of job as my duty is to protect my own master from all types of harm. You can say, I am a Knight to my master who is my Queen. [All said quite passionately.]

We all go through training before we become Dragon Knights, learning the history of our role as well as building our battle skills. However, after given our ranks, it is up to each individual to maintain their skills.

I have traveled to many places and tested my skills in different contests and conflicts. [That's not exactly why she was traveling, but...

She nods, understanding his dedication. The same she had felt towards her own King despite leaving her home after all this time. If only...]

[She simply remains silent at his compliments, knowing that despite her best efforts, she still failed in her duty. As much as she should move forward, there's no way for her to do so here; so she simply remains fixated on her failures. Instead, she simply tries to offer him some encouragement.]

[Unfortunately, he doesn't entirely share the same amount of confidence as the lady knight is showing him. He knows that if Ririchiyo has not asked for his services, then it would mean she agrees with her father over his decision to release him of his duties. But even so, he does feel gratitude towards her for showing him such kindness to him.]

Thank you very much for your kind and thoughtful words. I am certain that Ririchiyo-sama will do as you say....someday. [But for now, he will continue to offer her the space she most needs, even if it pains him in doing so.]

Do you have any more questions to ask over my world that will be of use for your investigation?

[Nodding just slightly with an encouraging smile, she sets the topic aside. Perhaps their relationships with their respective masters are too sore of a subject for now.]

I do, actually. Do you know if there is anything like magic in your world? I have spoken with a few who have claimed there was none, but most of the worlds I've learned about seem to have it in some capacity.

Magic?

[A thoughtful expression will appear as Soushi begins to wonder on the best way to offer a reasonable answer without revealing too much.]

I am uncertain if this is the type of magic you are inquiring about as many worlds do seem to hold offensive and almost the type of magic that can be found only in movies or books, but my world is quite...plain in comparison. We have certain types of individuals that do practice magic for entertainment purposes such as for parties and special concerts. Their magic are usually in forms of illusions or as simple as taking a rabbit out of their hat.

While there are other types of magic such as reading the future by using special deck of cards, reading one's hand, horoscopes, and for religious practices such as wishing to harm another individual by creating a doll for them or special ceremonies are performed to be granted protection or special types of wishes.

My world's magic are usually false while others are simply conjuring malevolent spirits that do the person's bidding or offer power to those that summon them. Those spirits are invisible to everyone else, of course, and are believed to be fallen spirits that were unable to pass to the other life after their death.

So this magic for entertainment is closer to sleights of hand? [It seems to match up with the fake magic she's been told of. She brings a hand to her chin thoughtfully.]

Hmm. It seems as if your world's magic is difficult to see outwardly, and people have taken advantage of that to fool others.

Yes. It is just as you have said.

[Then the final part of her perspective, Soushi will continue to nod his head.]

We are not accustomed to magic as it is a concept that is foreign especially when logic is mostly used. Magic can only be found in fiction and does not truly exist in my world. There might those who believe they hold special abilities, but it is mainly false or the effects of their religious practices in conjuring spirits to do their bidding. I cannot speak over the matter as I do not understand it myself. [All lies. Everything coming out of his mouth was a complete lie, but he had to cover up his world's tracks unfortunately. It is forbidden to talk about the community he is part of so easily especially when his world is currently unstable.]

How about you? What type of magic exists in your world? It sounds as though...you are familiar with it?

[Freya has no reason to distrust Soushi's words and takes them at face value. At least it isn't immediately necessary information...]

Our worlds are quite different. Gaia is full of magic users. I suppose some of the abilities I am able to use can be called magic in a sense, even if they are not typically called that. Some mages specialize in healing and augmentative spells, and some focus on elemental and detrimental magic. There are several other kinds of magic and magical skills, however.

I believe so. The thought of magic being used as an offensive or defensive ability is quite unique and interesting. Your world sounds extraordinary.

[He will continue to ponder to himself a while longer.]

Humans are not the only species in your world, correct? [Because the individual at the other side of the screen does not seem human at all.]

I would likely think the same about your world if I saw it. [It's all a matter of perspective.] Considering the monsters that roam our world, the sort of magic we use is necessary.

[She gives a short nod.] There are many races other than humans and Burmecians like me. It is somewhat strange to me to learn that so many worlds are only inhabited by humans...

Monsters? [His attention was not gained by the thought. He will seem genuinely curious now as he offers a light chuckle as he finds it quite amusing that perspective is really interesting.] What types of monster exist in your world?

Humans, for the most part, have been the dominating species in my world. There are all assortments of other species living within, but they have not gained the sufficient intelligence as of yet. We do know of other worlds, but only those in our solar system which possess no forms of life. Our technology is not yet sufficient to learn of other worlds such as your own. It might be for the best... [As Soushi knows the true darkness the human race holds and how destructive they can become.]

There are many kinds of monsters, such as dragons, beasts, or the undead. I have encountered dozens of different fiends in my travels alone, and I have no doubt I will see more before my life is over.

Travel to other worlds is completely unheard of on Gaia, as well. We certainly have enough problems on our own... [She gives a sigh. She really wants to go home. She's not one to run into a situation without a plan, but all this thinking without the opportunity to act has simply left her frustrated.]

From the way you speak of those creatures, it sounds as thought they are quite easy to encounter. I assume they can only be found in the wild than the city, correct?

[She isn't alone over the matter of anxiously wishing to return home as well.] It sounds as though you and your world have enough on your plate.

[Then he begins to silently wonder for a moment as a way to change the subject, but he couldn't find any. He was never the best in comforting others, not even his own master at times.]

Is there anything else I can be of service for you today? Any more questions?

That is correct, but I doubt that they would not be within cities if guards did not protect them from entering their walls. [She sighs. It's true, Soushi. War isn't pretty.]
