I took this to Burnie before, but now they're blaming me for the strange effects it's had on you all. The memory issues, the rapid growths and recesses of the aging process--all of it! A-and now they're trying to frame me as the one who did it, even though I was the whistle blower!
[Whatever ramifications this has for him, it has the poor kid terrified. He shrieks when pounding can be heard on his office door, falling flat on his back and out of camera view. And, quietly:]

[A chuckle.] Bit ironic, don't you think? Surviving what she did, only to be blasted with the polar opposite--
[A bit of a whimper is heard before another voice, Mai's, interrupts them.]

[If an eye roll could be audible, it likely would have been one of those moments.] Besides, bad enough that one of the few members of the team who knows how to operate the machine is out of commission... but now our lead tech engineer and the head of inner-city communications goes missing?

She's been overtaxed as it is after having to be awake forty-eight hours at a time when you guys put her in, and as her personal physician--
Yeah yeah, we know Doc. [the guy interrupts, his complacency leaking out in his tone.] "Not like the rest of us," "still needs rest" yada yada... You know how many times I've heard that? Besides, not like she doesn't sleep inside those "dreams" of hers, anyway.

Oh yes, we are quite aware that you have a certain... talent for bending the elements to your will, especially after the death of your young son to the tragic aftermath of the Cataclysm. We also know of his father's... legacy. Or perhaps you had thought those records suspiciously removed from your personnel file?
[For once, Mai seems lost for words. There is the scraping of a chair against laminate flooring, before he speaks again.]
Cyntia was always one to look beyond such matters of course, but you know how I prefer to have a certain level of... understanding with my colleagues. Thus I will make it plain: Yes, I am fully aware of what is at stake should she lose control or be lost within those "dreams" of hers. The problem being with the discretion you propose, however, is that she is the only vessel capable of such feats. Should you or me be strapped in, we wouldn't even get the faintest whisper through to the other worlds we're all so curious about. That is why we hired you, after all... As of last night, we began to receive reports of what many locals report to be paranormal activity. Preposterous as the claims seem to a mind like myself, we have as of yet found any signs of a mechanical failure in the power systems of our otherwise closed community. While my staff continues to work on an acceptable solution to the problem, I urge all bodies to exercise due caution. If the more... superstitious lot are to be believed, there may be another force involved that we are as of yet unaware of. However, any able to assist in the capture of the recent graffiti and propaganda artisans will be rewarded to the best of ours and the welcome center's abilities.

Local and guest alike. Several months ago the city experienced a disruption in the form of a transmission hacking of an official feed; as many of you reading this are aware. We have since been reviewing the data and running decryption on the hijacking's interference, and have come to a conclusion on a location of the signal. It is outside of the city walls, which now makes it necessary for us to enlist the help of those called to the city. Be advised that the person is an unknown factor, and likely to be dangerous. In addition, the environment outside is hazardous as well, and should be approached with caution. Because of this risk, volunteers will be rewarded for their efforts. They will also be the first on the scene with uncovering answers that we all doubtless wish to discover. Representatives from their respective departments will be available to answer questions, and impart necessary information. Given the nature of this task, there may be additional requests granted. My name is Rhea, and I am the one who presides over our ancient traditions - including those kept within our temple that was only recently reclaimed by the plight that has infected our homes.
[She bows her head in thought, and despite herself, tones down her youthfulness into a more serious tone.]
My fellow priestesses, the monks, and I hope you had a festive winter holiday season despite those creatures who seemed taken with us all. Let me ease your fears and say that those slain shortly before your Earthen holiday of Christmas were the last, and our... partners in the science department are s-

He’s looking a little worse for wear, though, like the cold and a lack of sleep are getting to him. He hasn’t had time to take care of his hair either, or he at least hasn’t had time to dye it again.
He seems calm, composed…or, at least, like he’s very much trying to be despite his natural nervousness.]
Hello again, visitors. I…well, um, for those who don’t remember me, my name is Hwan. I’m one of the employees in Saeng Seong’s science and technology research facilities. Yesterday, word about stray cats that have started, um, wandering around the city got back to our offices, a-and some people reported that their appearances had some strange effects, so we suspected that…that our equipment might have had something to do with it.
And, well, we conducted an investigation, and it looks like there has been a…surprisingly large colony of strays established in one of our warehouses that hold energy regulation equipment. I’m not sure how, since no one who has inspected it has ever reported any animals living there, but, well…
Of course, we can’t offer a full report on details, but currently we suspect that exposure to the energy flowing through the processing equipment in that particular warehouse make the cats have a…a strange effect on the people who produce that energy, compelling them to make more of it. So, if one crosses your path, you may be frozen in place until you’ve had some kind of physical contact. There were also a few reports stating that some people who ran across them were…er, for lack of a better word, magnetized to the nearest person, though thankfully they weren’t forced to move so quickly that they were injured. S-still, please try to be careful!
Most importantly, we want to collect as many of the cats as possible to treat them for the exposure, in case there are potentially any other, less apparent physical effects on them, such as health problems. If any of you see one of the black cats and manage to catch them, please bring them to the Welcome Center as soon as possible so that they can be taken care of. I and several other people [Though mostly just him, in all honesty] will also be out trying to find as many as possible.
O…oh, also! Once we’re certain that they’re all healthy, they’ll be placed up for adoption. We can’t let them stay in that warehouse anymore, after all.

That being said, we are looking for volunteers! This festival is going to be very large, and it’s going to take a lot of work to prepare everything. We have more merchant stands and games than there have been in years, and we also need to prepare for the events, get the stages and platforms for dancing ready, and making sure…oh…

As many of you could probably guess, our department is heavily focused on solving the city's current energy crisis. One of our main goals right now is to find ways to make the energy that all of you produce through physical contact more efficient - after all, if we can make what all of you are already doing count for more, the problem gets solved faster, and that makes everyone happy, so-

I apologize for the delay in responding this, the majority of our scientists have both been working on resolving the issue and being even more difficult to speak with.
[There is a disgruntled voice on the other end and Mai fixes someone with a glare that gets them to stop as the background begins to move behind her.]
The reason behind this is that one of the experiments they were working on backfired slightly. Unfortunately it affected part of the technology that stabilized the atmosphere in the safe-zones for those not used to the chemical makeup and altitudes of our city, which caused these symptoms. They are fixing this, but until then they suggest that you partner up with someone of the opposite symptoms.
The scientist who would speak to me didn't say how this works, but he apologized for the inconvenience.

The reason is that a number of people started showing signs of extremely fast energy drain - quick enough that they would have died within a couple of hours if left unattended. We returned them all for their own safety.
Right now, we're working on trying to figure out why only some people have been affected by this rapid drain. We hope to have more information for you soon.
Also, thank you all for your help in re-opening the Third District. For those of you that may have been wondering, opening the district was the cause of the power outages early in the month; for that reason, we're going to hold off on opening any other districts for the time being, until we're sure that the power levels are sufficient.

I'm posting today to ask for volunteers to help power a number of generators throughout the district, which will then activate and negate the draining effect that is presently still active. There's three large generators and a number of smaller ones. If you are in good health and would like to participate, please gather at the bridges between Districts 2 and 3 early Sunday afternoon.
I'll also answer any questions you have about the operation at this time. Thank you again for all your help.
