[Kit had lit her candle as the message had directed... then immediately had ducked under her blanket with her lion plushie. With all the spooky goings on, she was half convinced that some thing would jump out of the candle when it was lit, like the ghosts had come out of the wood from the Forest of Magi Oar when it had been burned.

But nothing happened. Nothing except static over the terminal and then a deep voice speaking over it when it cleared up. That drew Kit out of hiding, and to the terminal to listen. Well, mostly out of hiding. She still brought the blanket with her.

She listens, her expression one of deep thought. There were a number of words there that she didn't quite understand, but she thinks she's got the basic meaning. And while she doesn't know the word 'stagnation' the bit about 'lengthening lives' brings to mind something she's noticed since she's been here, and she finally speaks up, if a little tentatively at first.]

Is... that why there's no other kids here? The magic here just makes everybody live so long that they don't need to have them?
