[The voice that comes through the network has an odd quality to it - namely that it actually seems to be coming from inside your own head. If you've ever known a psychic before, you might recognize it as telepathy. Fun for the whole family!]

It appears to be useless to attempt to hide oneself in this city. We have all become aware that some of us are more dangerous than first thought, but I do not fear such things. [Nevertheless, he pauses, but then continues casually.]

I am Mewtwo. And it has come to my attention that the Pokemon trainers from my world have disappeared from this city. However, I know that some of you may still be in possession of eggs or infant Pokemon. If you have questions or concerns, I ask that you contact me. I do not care for humans, but the well-being of Pokemon is important to me.

If you feel that you are unable to care for any Pokemon in your possession, then contact me also. Do not endanger another creature's life out of a reluctance to seek help.

[Diarmuid doesn't seem to realize that he has, briefly, talked with Mewtwo before. That was via text and this odd feeling in his head is a lot different from that. However, it's not different enough that he really questions it. Instead, he just considers it magic as he does so many things he doesn't quite understand and moves on.]

Hi! My name is Diarmuid Ua Duibhne and I have a horsea named Lir! I sent a picture of us along with this reply so you know what we look like!

[And it seems, so he has. The boy is getting better at using the terminals and used one to record a picture of himself and Lir to go along with the message.]

Professor Oak has been helping me take care of Lir so far, but I am glad to know there is someone else I can ask questions to if I need to. I want to make sure nothing bad happens to him! He's my partner!

[Ah, yes, you do look/sound vaguely familiar. Mewtwo doesn't expect people to recognize him, of course, and this is a more proper introduction anyway, so it's cool.

And he's almost thinking that Diarmuid is kind of cute, with the excited voice and the picture of him and his Pokemon...but then the child mentions a name.]

Professor Oak? [From Diarmuid's description, it sounds like a Pokemon researcher of some sort. That...does not sit well with Mewtwo. Part of his decision to stop hiding himself was based on the assumption that he was the only one left from his world. WELP.

There's nothing he can do about it now, so he'll just gather information. His psychic voice remains calm, with only the tiniest hint of suspicion to it. Play it cool, Mewtwo, play it cool.]

I do not believe I have met this 'Professor Oak'.

[Fortunately for Mewtwo, Diarmuid doesn't pick up on the suspicion and is very willing to give all the information he has. Children...]

Professor Oak is an older man who I met at the lake a few months ago. I don't think he uses the Network.

[...since he didn't know about Diarmuid's festival until the boy told him in person.]

He says he studies Pokemon so he can help them grow up strong and not get sick. He was able to look Lir over and tell me I was doing a good job raising him. I need to take him in for another check up soon to make sure he is still growing okay.

Professor Oak is also a trainer like me! He has a really big dragon Pokemon called Dragonite. The Dragonite likes him very much, so he must be a good trainer, right?

[Not to mention, Dragonite was hurt when they arrived and now the Pokemon is all better and strong as ever. It's a good sign--in Diarmuid's mind anyway--that Professor Oak must know what he is doing when it comes to taking care of Pokemon.]

[WELL IT MAKES THINGS EASIER ON MEWTWO AT LEAST.]

I see... [Hrm, well, this is a bit of a situation. He's not sure if he can trust that the Professor will never be on the network, although it's also possible that Diarmuid is correct...it's good to hear that Diarmuid believes Oak to be a good trainer, but of course he's far too suspicious to just take the kid's word for it.

...he would feel a little bad interrogating him about this professor, though. He'll have to get more info on his own.]

I did not know someone else from my world remained. Do you know where Professor Oak lives?

[Diarmuid has to think about this for a while, but then he shakes his head even though Mewtwo can't see it.]

I don't. I gave him my apartment number, but he didn't mention his. He just showed up like I asked the day of my festival to help. I should ask, though! I am going to need to know so I can take Lir in to see him!

New arrivals tend to end up in Building 1 and he hasn't said anything about moving. I am going to guess he lives there!

That sounds like a reasonable guess.

[Surprisingly, he actually kind of likes kids. A little. In as much as he, you know, actually likes anything :|b But they're cute and sometimes very kind and they often don't carry the arrogance or assumptions adults seem to have, so. Let's talk about how you're cute, Diarmuid.]

Your horsea looks very happy in the picture you sent. You two must get along very well?

[Cute and kind. Two things Diarmuid definitely is in abundance...]

We do! We like some of the same things

...and we understand each other. Like when he sprays me with water, I know he's just teasing me! And he listens if I tell him that now isn't a good time to joke. I take him to the lake everyday that it is nice, so he can spend time swimming around. We play too, since I know how to swim. Sometimes my brother comes along with us!

[Ffffff yep, lots of cute here. How can you not like someone who's that adorable?]

You sound as though you are taking very good care of him. Does your brother have a Pokemon, as well?

[A pause. This is...really weird for him to say, but...he's gonna try it. Yolo and all that.]

Perhaps you and Lir could meet Alcyon and I at the lake some day. She is just learning how to swim.

We would love to meet you! Is Alcyon the name of your Pokemon? What kind of Pokemon is she? Lir and I will be glad to help teach her to swim. We can help teach you too if you want!

[The boy sounds very excited because he loves meeting new friends. Especially those with Pokemon!]

My brother doesn't have a Pokemon of his own. He has a horse and a puppy already. It's not a good idea to get too many things to take care of at once!

[That, and his brother isn't as responsible as he is...]

[The psychic chuckles gently. UGH SO CUTE....] Heh. Alcyon is the name of my...charge. But she is not my Pokemon. [pause.] In fact, we are both Pokemon.

And I already know how to swim, but thank you for the offer. Alcyon is an Espurr - a small psychic-type Pokemon. I have been told by many that she is very cute. [It's true though, she is.]

Ah...that is very true. ...Does Lir get along with the horse and puppy? [He has no idea if they would...]

[Mewtwo might not be able to see the wonder on Diarmuid's face at the moment, but it is definitely clear in his voice.]

I didn't know any Pokemon knew how to speak in a language humans can understand! That is really neat! What kind of Pokemon are you? Are you a psychic type like Alcyon? I haven't met any psychic type Pokemon yet! I am sure you are both cute!

[Diarmuid is looking forward to meeting them even more now.]

Lir hasn't met the horse yet because she is kind of...

[Well, he doesn't want to say 'mean' but...]

...jumpy and bites sometimes. We are waiting for her and Lir to get a little older first, but both puppies like Lir and Lir likes them! We are one big, happy, Pokemon, boy, and puppy family!

Your house sounds very busy indeed. I am glad you are making certain that the horse and Lir are both safe. [Well, that does make sense. Horsea are fairly small and horses are fairly big and all.]

Yes, I want everyone to be safe and happy! We have to look out for each other since we are a family and that is what families do! It's just like how you look out for Alcyon. She's your family, right?

[And, oh, his heart. It still feels so strange to hear that word, 'family', and realize that he does have one now. Alcyon has become one of the most important things in his life, and...he has no idea what to do about it. He's not a caring creature. How can he have what is essentially a child of his own? What if he messes something up? Who agreed to give him a baby Pokemon this was a terrible idea he can't do this.

And yet he has been doing this, for several months now. It's become a part of his life. It's probably an easy thing to say for Diarmuid, but it means so much to Mewtwo.]

Yes! That is right. Families love and care for each other. They are there for you when you need them and even when you don't. Sometimes you get angry with them, but they have your well-being in mind.

I love my brother and Lir a lot! I am so lucky I got to meet them. I am the only child living in the house back home, but now I know what it is like to have a brother! It's so great!

Is Alcyon the only one you have in your family right now?

[Wow, he is smarter than Mewtwo gave him credit for. (No offense.) But then, he supposes that's something he likes about children - that they seem to be oddly wise about such things. He considers himself extremely intelligent, but children have managed to teach him new things a few times.]

Alcyon has certainly been angry with me before. [A pause.] Fortunately....we are still a family. [Yeah, he hadn't really thought about it before (too busy trying to make her not mad at him, tbh), but that is nice, isn't it? The knowledge that you'll still be connected even if negative emotions surface. He hopes that's true for him and babby Espurr, at least. It seems to be so far.]

Yes. I am not certain that it will get any bigger... [But stranger things have happened :|b ] Though we do also live with a regular housecat.

Yes, that is how you can tell she really is your family! Real family doesn't leave you when times are hard. It's obvious she really loves you.

[Diarmuid pauses a moment to think on the answer to his question and then shakes his head. There is nothing wrong with small families, but the more people in a family, the more they can do for each other. He should really see if he can help Mewtwo make his family bigger...

If the Pokemon wants that, anyway.]

If you like me and Lir after we meet, maybe I can introduce you to my brother and the puppies. If we start to like enough other enough, maybe we can be family too!

And he's aware that it's not always the best idea to be super blunt with children - with adults he doesn't care, they can deal with it, but a bitty like this...]

I...I do not know how to have a bigger family, Diarmuid. I have only had this one, and...only for a very short time. I...

[It's also hard to say something like "I'm not sure if I'm even good at having a family because I'm an unnatural monster" to a kid. Mewtwo has problems, and he knows that, but he won't unload them onto Diarmuid.]

I...will meet with you at the lake, with Alcyon and Lir. [He should say more. But what more? He cannot social.

[It's okay, Mewtwo. Love and family are good things! You will get used to the feeling...someday!]

There is no how! Not really. You can't make someone be your family. You just have to let it happen by meeting with people and stuff like that, but I like you so far so I don't see why we can't eventually be family. We can meet at the park whenever you want. I don't have a job or anything like that, so I am free most of the time.

[As for the ninja cat...]

My neighbor has a kitten named Banchou. We don't know how he does it, but he gets into places a kitten shouldn't be able to. Like one day, I found him in the puppies' dog food bag that is kept in a closed cabinet! Since ninja are people who get in and out of places that most others shouldn't be able too, we call him a ninja kitty!

[PSYDUCK FACE FOREVER. SO CONFUSE. MUCH UNSURE. He's honestly not sure if he believes it to be as easy as Diarmuid says. He's aware, of course, that family doesn't have to be biological, but that still feels like the primary way to have one, and...it just seems like something too far out of reach for him. Even having friends is a little strange. He was not made to be capable of affection. He was a weapon.]

I will ask Alcyon when she would like to meet with you. She is sleeping right now. [So yea, we're gonna put the family topic on the backburner for now. It's too confusing, and...almost painful, honestly - he knows that this is a piece of him that's missing, but he doesn't think he could ever recover it. We'll talk about cute Pokemon and/or animals instead.]

I see. [...and despite all the earlier confusion, he finds himself smiling a little bit again. F-fine, just be cute, Diarmuid.] I suppose that is...a reasonable name, then. But Felix is not also a ninja cat. He is rather lazy, in fact.

[Diarmuid doesn't seem to phased by this statement. Instead, he just starts trying to think of other alternatives. It doesn't take him long to think of them either.]

That just means you and Alcyon have to play with him. Does Felix have toys? Toys are really important. My brother and I have lots of toys for the puppies. Cats like dangling things like strings! They like balls too! The park is a good place to play with balls.
